How much do you tip?

So I recently got delivery from Pizza Hut and went to pay the driver. The meal was about 23 dollars. I gave him fourty and asked for ten back, giving him somewhere between six or seven dollars depending on the change.When I did he looked at me in a way were I couldn't tell if he was grateful for the tip or, wanted to shove the pizza box down my throat. So I was confused. I normally tip 15%, and this guy got around 30%. But I'm wondering if 15% is the average for delivery work, it might be more than eating out beacuse they actually have to drive to you. So how much do you tip Escapsit, should I feel cheap?

eh..i tend to tip the take away guy to the nearest note so no more than a couple pound at best... n thas when i dont pay with exact change.. so i wouldnt feel cheap if i were you

20%, 30%, sometimes more. I usually just round the amount. So if it's $12, I either leave 15 or 20, depending on what bills I have.

Most of the time the pay sucks and they make their living out of tips so I consider that.

I usually tip 15% of the total cost, 5% more if my driver or etc. exceeds my expectations, 5% less if he does poorly.
You shouldn't be worried about what the guy thinks of what he recieved. If he did well, you should pay him well.
And like what Darth said, a good portion of their income is tips.

I was taught to tip by adding about 5% to the total cost and adding that as the tip...then again me Mum is teacher so 5% could just be because of the budget cuts.

Yeah, it's the same over here in Norway. Also, buying food at restaurants is already pretty expensive, so if one should tip on top of that, you'd be broke in no time.

Where I live (in America) you don't have to tip pizza deliveries, or if you do $5 is considered a lot. Then again when my brother worked in the city as one he always got large tips so I guess it all depends on where you live.

In the US restaurant workers can be, and are payed below minimum wage. If they were payed minimum wage, you would just have to line up at the counter and get handed your food like at McDonalds. There would be no incentive to do more.

I start at 15%, and increase to 18% or 20% if they were better than expected. I'll only decrease if they were exceptionally bad.

Depends on service. I tip the 15% in house, and usually for drivers we'll tip $5 max. Which is pretty good, considering.

My understanding is that 10-15% are customary, and that is what I usually tip. If it's the end of the month and I'm a bit short on cash, well, tough luck for the delivery guy, then.

Wouldn't it is your job either go and put the food out there or you get fired be enough of an incentive... always has been here.
