How much emphasis do you put on getting trophies/achievements?

If they are fun or challengingly so then I do them (for example jump assassinate a victim of your poison in assassins creed). I also do the collectable ones like collecting all the Riddler stuff in Arkham Asylum. However if it were to get a 100 hit combo in under 4 seconds in Arkham Asylum I wouldn't bother unless there was some cool reward.

Next to none. I pretty much play a game, complete everything I can be arsed completing then see if there's out I can do in 5 mins. No Platinum. No Worries. I mean seriously. I like you Prototype but you want me to kill HOW MANY INFECTED. Oh well if it's for a gold trophy I can see why I'd want to kill 62,000.... oh wait... silver. Fuck you prototype ( Average 10,000 a play through)

I'll get any trophies that don't sound ridiculous. I'm generally a completionist and trophies are just another box-top collectionthon to get. (Oddly I have only 1 platinum trophy).

Depends on how bored I am, how much I like the game, and how possible it is to get 100%

I generally ignore them, but If Im going for that last trophy or achievement, I wont stop playing till I do.

Zero.

They are in the way, break immersion and I just dont like them. I wish they would go away on a permanent basis.

It depends a whole lot on a game. Sometimes when I have completed a playthrough, I take a look at what achievement I have gotten. I then browse through the list of the ones I have yet to achieve, and consider whether or not I would have fun trying get these achievements? From there's it's a simple decision of either starting to hunt down achievements or simply ignoring them. Hunting down achievements can become almost like a minigame of its own to me, if the achievements are well done and promote styles of game play that I would otherwise ignore.

However, a lot of companies don't put a lot of effort into introducing good achievements, so for the most part I end up ignoring them.

I think achievements are dumb, but trophies are great. I strive for trophies but utterly ignore achievements. The main reason for this is: Platinum's. I love Platinum's.
only problem with platinum's is that you have to do all of the incredibly rediculous tasks to get them. For example, i'm 3 trophies away in Batman AA from getting the platinum, but i'm just not THAT good at freeflow
Yea, I kinda ignored Batman's platinum because. . . them challenge rooms, man. Not my idea of a fun time.

But the Sly Cooper games, God of War games and Uncharted games are easy Platinum's.
my favorite platinum is borderlands. you basically just have to beat the game to get it. Yes it's easy, but i never said i liked hard things. Unfortunately, it was very glitchy.
Also, really captcha? tormented infielders?

I'm a bit of "cheevo whore", I'll admit to that. but I'll see if I can get through the game and just enjoy it first before I head to X360A [www.xbox360achievements.org] and see what's what.

X360A is a godsend. Who'd have thought that all I needed to do to get that "Whammy Mania" in GH3 was to tape down the whammy bar and play "Number of the Beast" on Easy?
