My fingers must always be moving. Scratching something, fiddling with something, drumming on a table(or making the same action in the air)... I think it's from years of having most of my movements in my hands.

Also, I talk to myself(imaginary friend style(don't judge me...)) because of around a year of solitary gaming where I had no one to talk to aside from texting(kinda like college, but that's just feeding the habit).

After playing Crysis I wondered how many shots it would take to shoot the branches off of various trees.

I can't say that I've noticed any gaming related instances but on a similar note:

I often try to "save" when I'm drawing a picture in r/l or sometimes I look around on my paper for ctrl + z when I mess up.

I saw a large cargo plane flying above my friend's rugby game and yelled "What noob called in the emergency airdrop?"

Theres a footbrigde near my school that i was walking over once with a friend from school. L4D was my favourite game then so i couldnt help but imagine how much of an epic hold point it would make with some molotovs and a bit of barbed wire. I also watched 28 days later recently so that didnt help. My friend seemed to think this observation was weird, i cant imagine why.

I keep hoping I have my hearthstone in my bag and that the cooldown is ready so I don't have to sit in traffic. And when my flight home from chicago kept getting delayed I thought hey I have a flying mount, oh wait I am not 70 yet >.<.

I also keep an ear out for smokers, boomers, and hunters in the office. And I always know where the first aid kits and pills are
Oh I so understand this.
Also, being around people being stupid irl and not being able to /votekick is excruciating >.<!

I'm sure every FPS player has done this, but when I'm walking down a hallway and someone comes into my line of sight, my attention automatically focuses in for a head shot. This isn't bad, is it?
You aren't alone...

Also, I have a habit of looking around and going "Man...this would ROCK if it were a level in *insert shooter of choice*

Sometimes when I'm walking through Wal-Mart and me and another person lock eyes, I imagine the Guard alert noise from Metal Gear Solid, my eyes go wide and I look for the nearest escape route.
I do that when ever I'm walking down an empty hallway at School.
Not helped by having "Yell Dead Cell" from MGS2 on my MP3 player.
Aside from MGSing everything whenever I feel like I'm alone, I don't do it too much.
It's just... so much fun...

After playing one of the PoP games from the Sands Of Time trilogy (can't remember which) for a few hours, I fell down the stairs and my first instinct was to press L1 and try to rewind time

i was in town one day going to get my watch repaired, when i dropped it off the man said something like "just leave this with us for a while and come back later ok?" and as i was walking out, for a split second i considered immediately going back in (thinking of the fossil resurrection process in pokemon) luckily, reality struck me just in time and i was saved from humiliation

any similar stories?
*You come back*

"Oh you're back! Good News Everyone! Wonderful news, your watch was not only repaired, but has been resurrected as a Omanyte!"

he's like :D

I WANTED KABUTO DAMMIT!
Oh my God, in my two and a half years at the Escapist, this post has made me laugh the most. Well done, sir, well done.

OT: I always hear the "Achievement Unlocked!" noise, along with expecting one after accomplishments. I also hear Steam's "New Chat Message!" noise as well.

Also, not sure if this is gaming related, but very rarely, I'll go to close my eyes, for blinking or what have you, and I'll see this impossibly bright white light flash, which will startle me into opening my eyes again. Bloody hell is it ever frightening.

Whenever I go to someone's house (whether I'm invited or not) I will search through all their drawers and smash all their pottery, looking for shiney things/cool weapons. And why won't any shop clerks give me any money for the random pieces of animal carcasses that I trade to them? :p

But really, most of the time anything happens is after a binge of playing one game for an extended period. Usually it results in hearing sound effects or music from the game in my head the next day or two. Sometimes I'll actually hear game noise in my head and then turn my head to see where it came from, as if something in the room made that noise. The time I remember most was after playing GTA3 all weekend with my friend. The next day, it was sort of a paranoid struggle to drive around town. I had to keep remembering that stoplights mattered, to observe the traffic laws, and resist driving on the sidewalk, etc. It kind of freaked us out when we pulled up behind a cop car at the light. I had a mixture of thoughts between -"What's our wanted meter at? Are they going to chase us?"- to -"Hey let's trick them and take their car so we can do vigilante missions!" It didn't help that we were running on little sleep. But we managed to navigate reality successfully that day.

Any therapists reading this thread would have a field day. Some serious ammo here for the "games are bad for you" argument

Can't really think of any ways that gaming has affected my life tbh
you know, we gamers really aught to make an equally stupid argument against the idiots that came up with that one

"oh no! i got a paper cut!" BURN ALL THE BOOKS!!!!!!!!!

I now collect bottle caps for the inevitable apocalypse. I will be SO RICH.
I've been doing the same thing, currently I have 41.

OT: Like pretty much half the people here I also sometimes attempt to save my game at important moments just in case then feel very worried when I can't then snap back to reality.

Congratulatons, you just realized you're one of many useless Pokemon in your party used strictly for HM's

So yes it's game related

I am SO GLAD you don't have /votekick in irl, or you'd be kicking me out of my own car/house I swear to God... or is it J we need to kick?

OT: I don't really play enough games for it to have any effect on me, but the way social media is going, I'm becoming concerned for my sanity :S

I pine for a save and load menu option in real life.

As for any other way I'm screwed up. I've been playing Modern Warfare 1 & 2 a lot lately and my school happens to be near the airport. I've been more than tempted to find cover when one of the passenger jets flies overhead. Luckily for me, reality comes back before I manage to make a fool of myself. :D
