I'm personally obsessed with music, and the ever expanding universe of electro offers vast amounts of music every day for me to buy.

How important is music to you?

Do you often go to gigs? (I'm going to see Metronomy tonight :D)

I was trying to think about the best way to judge how much music plays a part in your life. And all i could think of was your collection / iTunes library. so heres my stats atm:

2175 songs 6.2 days 13.35 GB of music in my iTunes account. How about you?

I also have a record player with about 600 LPs that used to be my parents but regularly buy 12"s from my local record shops :) RPM ftw

When I get shafted into going to a football game surrounded by drunk loud obnoxious pricks slurring violent an bitter hatred over each other to the point where I wonder if they will start outright killing each other over a dispute of a family friendly sport.... having my ipod there to distract me... essential.

I'm a Bass player and a music student. I would say music is large part of my life.

A rather large part.
I see gigs every so often, not much money to see big bands a lot. Next month I'm seeing NIN at the O2.

My iTunes currently has less than half of my music on it 1.2 days, 2.37GB.
My personal CD collection is about 100 CDs plus free stuff from magazines and free stuff.
My parents' CD collection is about 350+ CDs and I grew up with lots of music.

I'll get all my music on iTunes and see how big it is.

I'm learning to play the guitar... When I have free time. And I always carry an MP3 player wherever I go, to block myself from idiots in the bus, on the street and in the school.

I'm quite into music, I like going to gigs, live shows and I never leave the house without my iPod, then there's band practice twice a week. I'm not completely obsessed with music, but it is a big part of my life.

Same, i prefer smaller more intense gigs anyway. while we're on the subject why did the carling academy suddenly become the o2 academy? I never asked anyone before..

If I was given millions of dollars, the majority would go to iTunes. As is I'm limited to just stuff that can get me by.

iTunes collection - zero
Approximate height of CD collection - 5'6"
Digital music - ~20Gb
Records - ~100

Although I wouldn't say that's a very good measure of how much music is a part of my life (except perhaps the height of my CD collection which I quite like), surely how much you listen to music would be a better measure?

My CD collection consists of just over 200 CD's.

My iTunes tells me I have 9 days worth of music at 2662 songs and 12.13GB taken up.

Oh, and all but about 3 songs are legal (one or two songs I could quite literally not buy).

Although I listen to it a lot, I don't need music on all the time, but when it is playing, it has to be something I like or it drives me crazy.

I don't really use iTunes much, only for Audiobooks and podcasts. But my external hard drive, according to Winamp, contained about 2 months of non stop music. I'm importing my stuff into iTunes now to have a look. Though it may take a while...

Gig wise I don't get to go to many. There's not much in the way of gigs that I'm into around these parts so it usually means a trip to London, Manchester, Sheffield etc.

I usually do a couple of festivals a year, there'd be more if I had the money. The last one I did was Roadburn in Holland with my girlfriend. Was lucky to get a ticket as the whole thing sold out in 45 minutes!

I can't play to save my life but listening to music is a very big part of life for me. There's no real "why" but its still very important.

I listen to music on youtube when I'm on my computer, but besides that it's not a huge part of my life.
