I'm just wondering because all of my female friends wear make-up, and it's not something that guys tend to remark on. Do you tend to ignore it? Do you think it makes a girl more appealing than she would be without it?

And most of all, how much is too much for you? When her face starts to look like a cake, or do you just hate all make-up in general?

Personally, I wear just as much as in my profile picture- a thin line of eyeliner on the top and some mascara. Nothing heavy or scary looking; just enough to make me look more awake during the day.

What're your thoughts on it?
I think if you can tell you someone is wearing make-up (in everyday use) they are wearing too much.

By the way, are you a scuba diver? Your username is the name of a major dive equipment manufacturer.

If you can rub it off with one finger and not be able to see through the make-up to the skin of you finger tip, then it is too much.
Make-up seems like it looks best when it compliments/smooths out facial features; not covers them. This is of course, just my opinion.

My username is also the name of a band, and the name of a famous song. :p No, I don't scuba dive. I wish.

Which is somehow relevant, because you shouldn't wear make-up and scuba dive, I guess.

Eh, a bit of eye-liner is fine, but most girls that I'm attracted to don't wear that much makeup.

I don't have a problem with it so long as it doesn't make your face look like plastic.

Most men I know agree, as soon as we notice your wearing makeup (or none sometimes) it is too much.

Good makeup is like a good soudtrack. When its missing you notice it but when its too much you notice as well. It should be there, but not so you'd notice, and really great makeup can help to raise your natural beauty by emphasizing strong points, just like music can swell at particularly awesome moments to really give that moment a particular extra something.

Agian, not noticable but there to raise up the good. Unless of course thats a style your going for, i.e. performer, goth, etc. then its about art which i cannot comment on. However there is a great quote "There is no beauty that does not have some strangeness about it." Look at Kiera Knightley, she works and she's just a face with no body, Scarlett Johansson's smile is jusr wrong somehowq, we don't admire thdem despite these flaws but because of them. Perfect is boring, so don't coverup flaws they are attractions in their own right.

As long as you don't think "Gee, you really caked it on," it isn't too much.
I for one like almost no make up, preferring a more natural look in women. Though a little eyeliner never hurts.

It depends on the person wearing it. Sometimes just a little is good, sometimes a little more is better. But generally its easier to put on to much than to little.

I do, it is awesome. Lessons and certification total about $300 if you are properly being taught. Gear on the other hand is not so cheap, but if you get a parent (or wealthy friend) into diving gear will quickly not become an issue.

In most instances I say that ANY make up is really too much.

Though, just to be reasonable in fancy dress situation if they use just a little to accent their features I don't have too big a problem with it. Everyday situations however, do not call for it.

I don't usually wear make-up, except on certain occasions.Because it usually ends up feelings icky and greasy here in the California heat (and my husband doesn't like it at all. He likes to argue that any make-up, is too much.)

Going out to a dinner party, weddings, birthday parties, job interviews, any occasion that I'll be wearing 'dress clothes'. Then I put a little something on, hardly anything though.

I used to know girls who would just, cake their faces. It was terrible looking. Their face was a chalky-like dark beige, and their neck was their original skin-tone. Then they'd break out, and use MORE. Blegh. Once the term 'caked' begins to surface, then you know you've gone too far and should probably dial it back a lb. or two.

Any. At all. Period.

I dispise make-up of any kind on either sex, it's just so... unnatural. Besides, after putting it on and wearing it in public the first time, you pretty much have to wear it for the rest of your life, because after you take it off, people are going to start actually noticing those weird, albeit subtle, blotches on your neck that you thought they were noticing before, even though they couldn't actually see shit all.

I prefer no make-up at all...
Then again I am probably a terrible inbreeding tragic mistake that will start WWIII, so maybe you should not listen to me in the first place.

It really comes down to the person. Some can go without make-up and still look nice. Others really, really could use some. Still others use too much. I think for day to day activities like going to school you don't need much more than cover-up or whatever. I mean, don't go all out with your Sephora kit and turn your face into a bizarre painting every single day. Save that for special occasions.

I think it's gross when some girls cake their faces with make-up to hide acne... It looks even worse than the 3 pimples you had.

And guys? If you really want or need make-up... Make sure other's can't notice that you're wearing make-up. What I mean is that it doesn't stick out. If it covers some parts of your skin that might not look nice, go ahead. If you look like Adam Lambert and aren't Adam Lambert... Then no.

I've never worn make-up and never will unless I get to go on TV but that's different.
