Boudica,....
actually didnt she explicitly ask to get banned becasuse she got offended or somthing?

not to speak ill of the banned but she did tend to react...strongly over things she found offensive...like deciding not to get Borlderlands 2 just because of a dumb thing one guy said

Yes but there are still bad people and getting rid of them is what keeps this forum from becoming like other certain online message boards. My point is that people who are banned deserve it.
I disagree...my buddy Mortai got banned...and while he did tend to get snarky he did contribute to the forum

I'm not exactly confrontational, most of the stuff I've been done for is just stupid stuf on my part (other stuff...well....yeah) but I'm literally one infraction away from a ban, ask most peopel and dont think (hopefully) they would call me a troll or an ass

there is a difference between somone who is generally an ass and somone who slips up one too many times

The simplest (and smartest) thing to do would to be never post at all, just simply lurk and smile at everyone else who gets banned.

If you're gonna tackle a difficult subject like child porn or beasiality pick your words extremely carefully.

If a topic of yours get locked don't create a new thread about the same subject.

Don't post the same topic every week

edit: Mortai got banned? WHY!?

Hot to avoid ban:
Moderation is such a grey area on this forum. I feel I'm going to get infracted because I swore in this post.
Step 1: Don't be a fucking idiot.

End tutorial.
No you won't get infracted for swearing, but is vague, So I won't add it.
well actually you can.....if you do it a bit too much (as I leanred)

Boudica, Matthew94, and Sean Hollyman have all been burned recently for things that happened in groups.
Matthew94 hasn't been banned, he just got a 90 day suspension.

Here's [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.390353-This-kind-of-behaviour-at-cons-Eurogamer-KSI?page=11#15702501] the post that did it. If I had to guess, it was him constantly calling anyone who disagreed with him a liar and dishonest

I admit that my statement was way too general to accommodate for all cases but I'm willing to bet that what Mortai got banned for was not nice or reasonable, can you prove me wrong? Its very easy not to slip up, especially when you have already slipped up before.

I'm not sure if 'slipped up' is the most appropriate analogy either, it implies that the incident was accidental and I believe that typing in text and then clicking the post button cannot be accidental, at least for me. You can accidentally insult someone when speaking to them in person but on these forums you have the time to review what you have written and make a judgement as to whether you want to post it or not. Posting on a forum is not an impulse activity. This leaves another possibility, that it was only accidental in that they got caught, open to interpretation.

Addition for the Rules List: The more warnings you have, the easier it is to get another warning. When you have one more warning=banning then you are walking on the THINNEST ice. Very minor infractions that wouldn't earn a warning for people without any can earn you a final one leading to your being banned.

Darn it, Captcha, let Evil Smurf make the call. You just enjoy getting people into trouble.

objectivly?....no because I think its mostly subjective...and trust me its actually pretty easy to get done for somthing your honestly thourght was ok

I stand by my use of words....

because stuff can hit you out of nowhere that you honestly had no Idea was *that bad* (as I said) I don't want to go into detail because right now I don't want to take any chances

I WILL say however that I feel as though [b/]no matter how careful I am[/b], I will get done for soothing eventually...unless I go through everything I say with a fine tooth comb and censor/change it...which I hoenstly think defeats the purpose of me posting in the first place

I can appreciate that it might be easy to let something slip when you are new to the forums, I myself received a warning for a low content post back when I was new to these forums. But the purpose of a warning is so that you learn from your mistakes. I believe that a person who truly wants to come across as a reasonable and respectful person will have no trouble in learning from their mistakes.

I'm not trying to be rude but I find it hard to believe its so easy to slip up. You said that to avoid all trouble you would have to go through everything you say with a fine tooth comb. This is very reasonable but I think it is evident in this very post you have just made that you do not review what you have written at all. What I refer to is that your post is fraught with spelling and grammatical errors. I apologize if any factors unseen to me are responsible for this but I believe that for a person to have reviewed what they have written at all they would have to notice the spelling errors at least, after all a wavy red line is placed underneath them and all you have to do is right click and the error will be corrected for you. I'm sorry, I'm not usually one to pick on spelling but in this case it was relevant to my argument.

It would be unreasonable to expect a forum user to give what they have written a full investigation but I don't believe it unreasonable to expect them to employ some care in what they are writing.

I got my first (and only) warning for Low Content. I never saw it coming.

We're rooting for you, Vault101. I won't say that I mourn Mortai's banning even though he and I never tangled. He did seem to enjoy aggravating people. And he was too methodical and systematic for it to have been anything but intentional. I'll stop there, since it's not proper to speak ill of the banned.

But having been warned by the mods for a post I felt was perfectly acceptable I understand your uncertainty.

...is it odd that I read the thread title and immediately thought, "There are 35 people in this thread. <url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zekiZYSVdeQ>They have not been banned"?

Being 'reasonable' isn't inherently the same thing as being 'tactful'.

although Morti had a habit of getting into long (and sometimes unessential) forum fights....and he could get a [i/]bit[/i] snarky he never set out to intentionally provoke/piss people off..it was just his arguing style

I say this because.. Mortai is always watching...and Mortai is displeased.....I have the psychic Link to Mortai[footnote/]steam chat[/footnote]
