You can't say "Skyrim, Obligotory words so mods won't hammer me" I have seen this and it does not work.Rastelin said:In regards to low content in replies, cannot help the feeling that admin are counting the words and not seeing the context. A simple yes or no answer can get you banned then.
it blocks ads which give the escapist money.Jezzascmezza said:Damn, I didn't know getting a warning for saying you use Ad-block- is that program illegal or something? I don't use it personally, but I know lots of people who do.
I guess there are a lot of rules and regulations on this forum, more so than most forums, but personally I don't have a problem with that. It keeps the atmosphere positive, and ensures a degree of dignity and even maturity- two things sorely lacking from just about every other forum I've ever visited.
Also (just to add it here as well), do not type a post in ALL CAPITALS.Evil Smurf said:snip
There are forum users that are epileptic or photosensitive, that would would most likely trigger that, it would be irresponsible to allow that, besides it's unpleasant to look at, I'm not epileptic or photosensitive but that really tired my vision, so yeah it's kind off bad.Akytalusia said:i was told i would get warned/banned if i used this avatar:

Looking at the post that he was banned in that's probably the case. Although I wouldn't be surprised if his overuse of the word 'liar' had something to do with it as well.Zachary Amaranth said:Saying things like "reported" tend to draw moderation wrath from what I've seen. I'm not saying Mortai deserved it, but if the rule as listed above is that at the last health level you can catch a ban for things that wouldn't even get others a warning....
I wasn't saying that you need to give your post a full investigation before submitting it, to expect that of anyone who posts would be insane. I don't think it is unreasonable though to expect forum users to have a quick glance at least to be able to shoot down anything obvious. My point was that in having this quick glance it would be extremely hard to miss any spelling errors, therefore frequent spelling errors in a post can be interpreted as a sign that the poster has not made this quick glance. I have no problem with other people making spelling or grammatical errors, it doesn't bother me at all.Shadowstar38 said:No, see, it'd be pointless to post at all if you have to look through your posts to find everything that might be offensive to someone, not for grammar and the like. Somewhat two different things.
It does have a sense of urgency to it, anyone considering ban jumping should urgently be told not too.Hjalmar Fryklund said:Also (just to add it here as well), do not type a post in ALL CAPITALS.Evil Smurf said:snip
That may well be so, but the code of conduct specifies this:Evil Smurf said:It does have a sense of urgency to it, anyone considering ban jumping should urgently be told not too.Hjalmar Fryklund said:Also (just to add it here as well), do not type a post in ALL CAPITALS.Evil Smurf said:snip

You can disagree with whatever you like but using large amounts of obscene language and CAPS is against our policies. We are sure you can find another way to voice your opinion without being aggressive, regardless of whom it is directed at.

Merely adding "Extra words to avoid mod's wrath" to a low content post does not avoid a mod's wrath.
As in they actually type that they're putting in extra words to avoid mod wrath. I've seen people modded for that at-least twice before.This.
Extra words added to avoid mod wrath
Fraught said:Ohhhhh.
I didn't account for that. That's just silly. That just...pulls more attention to the post. WHY WOULD SOMEONE DO THAT?!
Oddly enough, I have actually run into that. Words can't really describe what goes through one's head when one sees something like that for the first time.
Ahh memories. My very first full ban was of a user with 10,000+ posts who had put a low content post with the words "Extra words to avoid mod wrath". I banned him and added;Evil Smurf said:You can't say "Skyrim, Obligotory words so mods won't hammer me" I have seen this and it does not work.Rastelin said:In regards to low content in replies, cannot help the feeling that admin are counting the words and not seeing the context. Just asking, but what is "gaming the system"? Like, can you give a few examples of what it means in the context of this site? Like, would someone who's on his or her last legs taking a year break count? Even if they never come out and say they're doing it to get their health bar down. Not saying I will, I'm just curious. Also, I remember seeing that first full ban of your's, many laughs were had.TimeLord said:From CoC;SL33TBL1ND said:Or you could just abuse the forum health system and just be an ass every 6 months like me.

Exactly what SL33TBL1ND said in his post, getting up to the upper end of your health bar only to intentionally wait for it to drop so you can start being a dick again. Taking a break to drop your health bar is fine. But if you come back and immediately start causing trouble again then it's not going to look good.ToastiestZombie said:Just asking, but what is "gaming the system"?
