Refresh until you get a CAPTCHA that you can decipher still leaves you having to fuck with deciphering and retyping a CAPTCHA.TopazFusion said:Never, because you can just refresh Captcha if you can't read the one you've got.
Sure, it's not that hard to click a mouse a few times nor is it that hard to decipher and type it but it really is annoying and unnecessary.evilneko said:Meh. It's not that hard to refresh the captcha a few times to get a readable one. BTW, they're not case-sensitive, and you only have to type the word with the partially-inverted text.
This. The CAPTCHA is not really that harsh - you only have to guess one word (the one with the blob behind) and it doesn't matter what you write for the other. Furthermore, it's not case sensitive and you can make a few mistakes (2-3, if I remember correctly), so even if you can't read the whole word, you usually can read enough to pass it.evilneko said:Meh. It's funny that you think that the patience to deal with CAPTCHA is directly related to the quality of the post. I don't have to deal with CAPTCHA at other sites and I don't want to deal with it here. The quality of my posts doesn't have any bearing on that but you go on thinking what you like.DoPo said:This. If somebody can't be bothered to spend an extra 5 to 10 seconds on the CAPTCHA (or, we could be more generous - 15?) then I doubt the post matters that much to them, and by extension, to the others.
Occasionally, legitimate user accounts get compromised one way or another. If there were no captcha for users with a certain post count, you could end up with a stolen account suddenly spamming the shit out of the place.Crono1973 said:Sure, it's not that hard to click a mouse a few times nor is it that hard to decipher and type it but it really is annoying and unnecessary.evilneko said:Meh. Do you ever wonder why legitimate posters have to prove over and over again that they aren't bots? Is there no way they can program a flag in to only throw captchas at new posters until they prove they aren't bots? It's ridiculous and I guess I am curious how many posts were skipped because people didn't want to deal with CAPTCHAS.
IF that were to happen it could be flagged but since it is so rare there is no reason to force this crap on everyone. That's ok though, it's not like their servers can handle much traffic anyway.evilneko said:Occasionally, legitimate user accounts get compromised one way or another.
