I had a myspace when I was 12. I'd like to say it was "before Myspace was cool", but let's face it: Myspace was never cool.

I'm not that old! I only made my first profile on Facebook a few years ago (2008). I only made a profile to show photos to my friends when I went to this anime convetion in that year. I'm not really into social site and I am still like that to this day (spend a few mins to log in to see the updates and then log off).

Old enough to know better than to put anything on it that could be used against me by an employer, court of law, or any other authority.

They didn't even have internet when I was growing up.

Never had a social network account, it's never appealed to me.

As I said, no internet at all when I was at school, hell we didn't even have mobile phones. Between 16 and 28 I was in the army and had no need of "networking". Since leaving, me and the wife have settled down to parenthood and careers and it holds no interest to me.

Never would be the short answer.

I am 15 (16 in september so YAY!) and I created my first profile when I was 11 I think, it was Myspace and I didn't liked it, so I just added a profile picture of some random games ( the only one I can remember is Kingdom Under Fire and I loved that game) and I filled the profile with stuff about games to see how many people wold annoy me just because of all the game stuff.

And my facebook account started earlier this year. I'm still an antisocial git, but now I'm an antisocial git with a facebook account.

Son, we didn't have social networks when I was kid.
Indeed. I don't think we even had "social" when I was young and I think the only people who had "networks" were terrorists. How did we ever cope without mobile phones, Facebook etc and STILL manage to have teenage pregnancies, bullying and embarrass ourselves on a daily basis?

Oh, what's that? We weren't all totally self obsessed and really didn't care about the unimportant tosh people fill their networking sites with these days? What do you mean we didn't even WANT to post a status every time we needed a crap? People NEED to know my bowel movement is imminent! We were savages. Savages, I tell you.

Facebook asucks, though. Take it from a father who's had the police to the door four times iion his life over his kids and all four because my daughter was being abused on Facebook, F'raped and had once put the boot on the other foot. If and when it polices itself a bit better it might be something parents could tolerate rather than dread(there's NO stopping your teenager using it so don't even try)but all the sites from Bebo and Facebook and Tumbler onwards are so easily abused it's untrue and as teenagers over react to EVERYTHING anyway when a page gets attacked or a hate group set up about someone suicides are a real possibility. FB and co never seem to face up to the monster they created(maybe because big business sees it as a great way to advertise in the future and have laser guided accuracy WITH their ads-I'm very sus about why it doesn't seem to have ANY responsibility for what goes on on it's pages though)and as well as being an amazing tool for people today these sites are also used to ruin young lives in a targetted and nasty way every single day.

I'm no luddite and like tech and progress but, seriously, if you have kids to worry about I think you would also be a bit sus about FB and it's ilk. Anyone else have a better theory as to why there seems to be no way to police it? The police themselves are generally clueless and FB don't care at all and realise the kids will just open a different account anyway so the bullied kids only recourse is to shut their account which makes them even more of a target at school for being different. I'm sure for most kids the positive outweighs the negative but when so much bad goes on unchecked it ceases to be amusing.

I was just 13, when I created my first social networking profile and wrote down a few lines over there for the topic of How to write a song [http://www.writesongstoday.com/howtowriteasong/] as my favorite quote.

I was 17 by the time I finally caved into my friends nagging and got a Facebook account. S'alright for chatting and such but I still don't go on it very often.

I got a Facebook like 3 years ago, when I was 17. MySpace and Xanga, they...I dunno, they always just creeped me out.

Well, if GameFAQ's counts as a social network, than I was 16. If not it was Facebook when I was 27 which was just to comment on some things here on the Escapist. I only just turned 27 though.
