How open are you about your geeky-ness? (If you'd call yourself a geek that is)

im open as a geek, a nerd and a otaku. I'm the kind of guy who calculate the falling damage in Xd6 when i see someone trips down some stairs.

BTW. thats 1d6 per 10 feet, ignore the first 10 feet if a the person makes a dc 15 jump or tumble check and then the second 10 feet of a drop is considered non-lethal damage.

I'm open with my geekiness, but not in a proclaim-it-from-the-mountaintops way.

If someone asks me, then yes, I do love video games, Star Trek, superheroes, animated shows and movies (eastern or western), etc. I don't care if someone thinks those are stupid or even childish because that's their opinion and it has no bearing on me.

I don't really feel closed off about geekyness, but mind you, I've always made sure I'm in a safe and comfortable environment. For example, I excelled at my guitar/bass geekiness because not only did I have an interest, but I managed to get a job at a guitar shop and spent 5 years fixing and repairing everything. I wasn't ashamed and would have frequent races or games with a colleague of mine to see who was the best for a laugh. Who could 'outgeek' the other.

Nowadays when it comes to games I just simply don't notice if I'm being overly geeky, because a lot of my friends are male and a lot of them play games, whether recreationally or professionally.

If anyone asks me what my hobbies are, I have no shame telling them about my anime collection, or how I once got myself into debt over it and then selling it all off, or my gaming, or playing bass, or fixing guitars, or anything. It's part of who I am and I don't hide it.

If all of this is not considered geeky then that's completely cool :)

I don't try to hide it, but I won't go around telling people either, unless it comes up.

Besides, I always say that if you're interested in anything that isn't a sport, then you are counted as a geek.

In my opinion the word open only mixes with geek in the context of open source. Unless you're using it as some bizarre fashion.

I prefer to keep my geeky side hidden until someone bothers long enough to get to know me. That has yet to happen.

I only refer to myself as a geek in a semi-ironic sense, but I don't try to parade it around in front of people.
Not that I need to. Apparently my rampant nerdiness is quite clear to everyone I know. Oh well, I have no problem with it!
