So, I'm bored as hell and I thought that it would be interesting to find out what the people of the escapist thought their "stats" were, using the dnd system of course. and I thought it would be cool to check that against the dnd point buy system to see how overpowered you think you are.

For those of you who don't know, here's an explanation of the stats.
Strength is exactly what it sounds like, how hard can you hit, how much can you carry, ect.

Dexterity is also pretty self explanatory. How agile you are, hand-eye coordination. How good your aim is with ranged weapons. Manual dexterity things as well.

Constitution is a little more complex. It's the basic how much of a beating can you take, but it's also how long can you hold your breath, and how long you can hustle without being fatigued, and how resistant you are to poisons(that includes alcohol)

Intelligence is reasoning power. Problem solving ability. How smart you are.

Wisdom is knowledge. How much do you know, and common sense. So this covers "book smarts" and common sense, basically. How well do you remember things once you've learned them is also an important aspect of wisdom.

Charisma is your ability to manipulate others with words basically. It's your force of personality, and how well you can use it. Are you a great liar, can you convince others to do what you want them to. That kind of thing.
1-2 in a stat is not going to happen. Not in a human, a human's stats range from 3-18
3-4 in a stat is virtually impossible in a human. A strength of this level, for example, would make it almost impossible for you to even lift a school-bag. You would be unable to walk at all while carrying anything over 30-40 pounds. A constitution of this level would be indicative of some sort of serious almost crippling disease.
5-6 in a stat is possible, but still seriously unlikely. an intelligence of this level is going to be mentally retarded.
7-8 in a stat is pretty likely. It's noticeably below average, but not completely hopeless. Someone with a dexterity of this level could still play sports that rely on hand-eye coordination without being a detriment to his team in gym class, but he's never going to be competitive either.
9-10 in a stat is average. Completely par for the course.
11-12 is noticably above average, but still very common. Nothing that anyone would take note of, but just a little bit better than average.
13-14 is good. At this level people notice that you're above average, but it's still not that impressive. It's uncommon, not rare. Most people would have one or two stats this high at least. You're good, not great.
15-16 is starting to get into the really good territory. You are significantly above average, you might even be excellent, but you aren't so good it's hard for people to believe.
17-18 is as good as it gets. Genius level intelligence. Worlds strongest man competition strength.

So, here's mine:
Strength: 15
Dexterity: 14
Constitution: 12
Intelligence: 16
Wisdom: 16
Charisma: 13

And the point buy system is somewhat more complicated. Every stat starts at a base of 8. It takes 1 point to increase the stat by one until you reach 14. then to increase to 15 and then to 16 it costs 2 points to increase the stat by one. Then, to increase to 17 or 18 it costs 3 points to increase the stat by one. Any stats that you think are below 8 would count as -1 point for every point the stat is below 8.
so 6 is -2, 8 is 0, 10 is 2, 12 is 4, 14 is 6 points, 16 is 10 points, and 18 is 16 points.

So my point buy is:
str: 8
dex: 6
Con: 4
Int: 10
Wis: 10
Cha: 5
total: 43

You certainly think you are above average lol. You probably at a minimum need to substantially drop your wisdom score based on your estimates above. I'm guessing they all need to come down really.

And I have say his is the geekiest "I RULE!" brag thread I ever read.
Not meant to brag. My friends actually helped me come up with those. I thought my strength and constitution would be 1-2 lower each. Wisdom I refused to even try to guess because it's a really hard stat to pin down. However, I do have a lots of basic physical talent. The problem is if I had a lazyness stat it would be infinite, so I've never done anything with it. It's also really tough to say what a person's stats would be.

The stats we came up with for one of them was:
Str: 11
Dex: 16
Con: 13
Int: 15
Wis: 16
Cha: 14

When we looked at the stats we had, the total sets were really overpowered but we couldn't really make an argument for any significant decrease to any individual stat. That's why I titled the thread: how overpowered are you?

Now that I think about it, we might have had my con lower, we did this over a year ago and it's hard to remember. We might have eventually put my con down to 12/13 region. hmmm, I'll have to try to dig up that paper, now I'm curious.

Ive done this before with my friends when we played D&D more often, its always fun. But youre a little off with these definitions of yours. Wisdom has nothing to do with "book smarts", lemme help and clarify.

Strength and Dexterity are straightforward and dont really need attention.

Constitution is a term which encompasses the character's physique, toughness, health and resistance to disease and poison.

Intelligence is similar to IQ, but also includes mnemonic ability, reasoning and learning ability outside those measured by the written word. (this is where "book smarts" would fall under, hence why Wizards in D&D use Int as their main stat.

Wisdom is a composite term for the character's enlightenment, judgement, wile, willpower and intuitiveness.

Charisma is the measure of the character's combined physical attractiveness, persuasiveness, and personal magnetism. A generally non-beautiful character can have a very high charisma due to strong measures of the other two aspects of charisma.

Those are the more accurate definitions according the Player's Handbook.

My Current Stats:
Str 17, Dex 17, Con 17, Int 13, Wis 15, Cha 16

Explanation- these numbers have not always been this high. But at my current health and age these are where I stand.
Str- I maintain a great deal of strength. I study Kung Fu and my teacher has always noted how much brute force I contain. Likewise, I am always called on by friends and coworkers to help with heavy lifting.

Dex- (technically two parts) Kung Fu has also helped here. I wasnt always but over the years have had a significant boost by practicing rolls, flips, kicks, etc. Im also a skilled marksman, so my ability with ranged weapons helps with the other half of Dex and gives me a big score.

Con- I dont often get sick and I fatigue less than anyone I know. Friends have even called me "diesel" simply because when I help out with work I set the pace and dont slow down until everything is done. I can endure more than most people and all around am tough of health.

Int- Never been that big of a "book smarts" person. Average grades, but unless its a subject I am particularly passionate about I never do amazing. And thus my lowest score.

Wis- I am a great deal more wise than i am smart. My judgement and intuition dont often let me down and practice self-denial keeping my willpower in check.

Cha- People seem to like me well enough. Sometimes I lose count of how many "homes" I have from people letting me stay with them and wanting me around. I dont have much trouble at all with making new friends either.

Strength 10 - normal genetics, good diet, but not much weight bearing exercise

Dexterity 10 - played musical instruments, above average at table tennis and competitive gaming, but bad at dancing and most sports

constitution 14 - enjoy endurance running and hiking, strong heart and lungs, iron stomach that almost never gets upset

Intelligence 18 - theoretical physicist by occupation, PhD, unified study of mathematics, computer science, and quantum physics.

wisdom 16 - got a BA philosophy degree on the side, practice meditation / yoga and read about both eastern and western philosophies

charisma 12 - well liked at work by students and bosses, most of my friends and romances have come from people pursuing me rather than me pursuing them

Using the D 20 roller from wizards.com..... I got this on the left. Now what I think I am is on the right.

Strength: 11.............11
Dexterity: 18........... 15
Constitution: 12.......9
Intelligence: 17........11
Wisdom: 14.............14
Charisma: 16...........14

Same or less for everything. Nothing bad but my con, could use work. Those stats on right I rolled though would make a sweet guy to be.
