I never understand it. In an online environment where we interact almost exclusively through text, people read my name and immediately type something completely different. I get "Acadian" a lot, or "Acakian", or any variation except for Acacian. I can understand mispronunciation if you've never heard of an acacia tree, but the spelling mistakes baffle me.

I'm glad I'm not the only one.

As for IRL name, I love how people mispronounce it. My last name is "McCalla". It's pronounced exactly as it's spelled - MC-CALL-A. But I get a lot of "MC-AL-A". My favorite was when I went to a clinic in a predominantly Hispanic neighborhood and the nurse pronounced my name "MC-AYE-A", as in 'pollo' or 'amarillo'.

I am not Abadeus, you idiots. I know E is close to A, and it's easy to press the A button twice, but IT'S NOT THE SAME.

I usually misspell names on purpose if someone misspells mine.

Ok for the sake of my friend, the name Kaila can also be pronounced "Kye-la".

Also just because I have two last names doesn't mean you have to strain yourself to try and pronounce BOTH of them. Just try your best to say the first and let me say here.

PS: Armando= "R-mon-dough" NOT "Arm-man-doo" It's spanish: the vowels are different!

Online people always call me Mobius or Malibus or Malibu... There's not even an "L" in it >.> and in RL people mispronounce my last name, Osburn as Osbourne.

I really wish your name was Kurt A. Kurtheimer. That would be awesome.

I'll say..."Caught-High-mer"?

I don't find it so terrible that people mispronounce my name, I usually just reply "I've been called worse, but's pronounced _______"

LEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

My friends say it loud and long.
You seriously made me want to go

Anyways...

OT:
I've had a few people mess up my Internet name. It's because it's a zero as the second "letter"(yes, it isn't a letter). It started since you can't write Danish letter oe(ø) in Counter-Strike. I then did what most others did, and wrote an 0.

Soedenone is the actual name and pronunciation. Danes have no trouble with it. "Soede" means "Sweet" also. My former Internet alias was just "none", so it's "sweetnone", in essence.

You try pronouncing that, though, as a non-Dane. Soede.

I've been called Redin Gold and Red In Gold, even though my name is Redingold, just one word. If you want to write it as two, it's Red Ingold.

As for my real life name, you'd have thought Jacob was easy to pronounce, but there was this kid I knew who called me Jacum (pronounced Jay-cum). My cousins also used to be constantly berated by my granny because they said it jay-cob instead of jay-cub, even though I really didn't care.

I do hate it when people call me Jake.

Some say my name like Myra, but is pronounced like mirror said by a person from Chicago.
My old constant username was also vastly mispronounced though. Some of them I did not midn though.

My name is Doiminic, but everybody insists on calling me Doyminic. The first "I" is silent! It's pronounced like Dominic! Although the majority of people I talk to call me Dom.

My first name is Chris. That's easy. But my last name...

Naccache (Nah-ka-chee)

No one I know could spell or pronounce this on their first try.

My surname is Holmes, and suprisingly enough i've had plenty of people make a complete pigs-ear when pronouncing it. Its a silent L! as in Homes, not Hol-mes or Holms. D:<
