I myself have a bit of trouble with being too gullible and easily led, and I tend to take people on the internet a bit more seriously than I should. What about you guys? How seriously do you take other people's opinions on the escapist?

Well, yeah. Everyone's opinion should be listened to.

It would be foolish to presume that just because they're on the internet, their opinions are worse than those of people you actually know.

I don't.

I agree with people sometimes but I don't let more notorious people on here change my mind about anything.

I'm not one of those people who just bow down before famous pub club members.

I don't tend to take the opinions of a group of strangers on the internet very seriously, most of the time.

If I did, I don't think I could stand being a member of this board, or any online messageboard for that matter.

A certain Swollen Goat said something about shoving an Oreo where Oreos should not be shoved.
Which either means we're not to be taken seriously or, if what he said is true, should not be taken seriously. And should seek psychiatric help.

I take them fairly seriously. If I can understand your point, and it has some basis for being there, I'll consider it.

I never care. I just LOVE to discuss things with people, so I tend to annoy folks with it =3.

It really depends on how that opinion is stated.

A lot of people's this sucks, that sucks opinions can really irritate me, but still, I don't tend to take it too seriously.

You're right!

Which means you're not, since you said that everyone beside you and Teddy are wrong, which means me saying "You're right" wrong, thus gaining the opposite meaning, of you being wrong.

Gotta love paradoxes.

I'm just really self conscious, and I get really giddy whenever someone quotes me, and I get really nervous whenever someones quotes me to disagree with me, so I try to remain as impartial as possible.

I think I often mistake how interested people are about what I have to say.

But for the most part no, I try not to take anyone to seriously, but I still try to treat them likes adults.

I think this sums it up pretty well.

It depends entirely upon how the opinion is presented.

If it's a one-liner sentence then unless the user is some sort of zen master, I doubt I'll pay it much mind.

If it's a TLDR (i.e. it fills up my entire damn screen) it usually relays that the user is obsessed about the topic and hence very likely not giving a good opinion either.

If however it is concise, yet permissive of different viewpoints (i.e. that it is willing to give the benefit of the doubt to opposing views, but ultimately decides what it thinks is true in a certain case), then I take the time to read it and respond to it if I feel anything worthwhile is to be added.

That said, most opinions (on any forum, even the most thoughtful and well-moderated ones) are really worthless and are primarily expressed under the delusion that they will make a difference. Whereas in fact 90% of the times they don't and merely serve to increase traffic figures for the site that hosts them.

So yes - I suppose most opinions that I read on any forum (not just this one) are discarded. But not all.

Trolling on the internet has become so prevalent that most people here seem to be unable to differentiate from normal social behavior.

As such, it takes a lot for me to consider anybody's opinion to actually have been thought out.

Funny that I normally take it with a grain of salt. Yet on the occasion, there's the one occasional thread that made me feel like somebody took a paddle and slapped me across the face. Normally it involves me being declared a 'poser' and 'Yur just a fan of , so thus you're stupid'. Which either one of these wouldn't burn like salt on a wound if it weren't for the fact that they're at least 3 paragraphs worth of text.

*shrugs* Hoooookay, I get the point, don't need to keep reading, do I?

I just like talking about stuff too, and that annoys people in real life. At least for me it does.

Opinion is a tainted term. It gets thrown around way too much by people who don't understand they're basically saying, "yea, well, thats just, like, your... statement, man." Its a blank descriptor people have confused with "personal preference" through faulty logic. Everyone has personal preference, everyone has opinion, therefor opinion is personal preference.

That said, depends on the ideas in play behind the statement.
