How stupid are Ash, Misty, Brock and the others?

Okay so I'm sure I'm not the only one who has thought long and hard about this, but how stupid must the Pokemon gang (I call them gang cause I don't remember all of them) be?

I really asked myself this when i saw this one episode of Pokemon. In the episode, Jesse, James and Meowth are dressed up as researchers...or something, ALL the have on is a different set of clothes and a hat, that's IT, nothing covering their faces or anything. So of course like every episode, the gang are too stupid to realize that the "researchers" are really Team Rocket, have you ever seen anything as stupid in the show?

After reading the initial post I can proudly say that I never watched it... and now I'm glad.

It is a cartoon and most entertainment has people making stupid mistakes to allow for the plot to progress. Also, it's called 'suspension of disbelief'.

And why go after Pikachu? It's like they NEED to kidnap pokemon. Why not use one of their crazy contarptions on wild pokemon? It never made sense, but none the less, that show was my childhood.

I think that the parents in the Pokemon world are stupider than any of the characters. Seriously wtf, give your kid a backpack and send them off into the world with absolutely no survival experience. Just look at the obscenely dangerous situations Ash and co have been in. What logical person would send their kid out to deal with that. In reality you know the police would be finding the corpses of would be pokemon trainers all over the place just from pokemon slaying them.
