How to be good at fpses on the xbox 360?

I run and rush the enemies.

And may die, but at least I take a few of them down with me.

Yeah I am a fucking demon on fpses. Without camping. It usually works up to memorizing the map layout and being quicker than the enemies. Basically practice practice practice like everything else in the world.
