The problem they face (and indeed any long running franchise faces) is if they change it too much fans whine that they "ruined it", but if they don't change it enough to keep it fresh and innovative the fans whine about it being repetitive and stagnant. They're stuck between a rock and a hard place.

I think the storyline might go for an improvement and I have this in mind:

You know how in the Zelda games, Link goes in a dungeon, gets a tool, kills the boss, then gets whatever he came in for, and only a few people, or perhaps most of the people from the area where you found the dungeon, notice and praise what you did?

I'd like the next Zelda games to expand on that, instead of a specific group of people knowing what Link did, have virtually everyone who Link has encountered in the game to make clear they know the heroics he does, it can help give the player the sense of being the hero, it worked for me when I played Fable 2 and Mass Effects 1 and 2.

I know this is Nintendo we're talking about, not Loinheart or Bioware, but I think you get my point.

Another thing is I'd like the option to continue playing a Zelda game even after finishing the main quest, so I can finish the optional side quests that Zelda games often include.

Bring Zelda into the future. The Master Sword is still the Master Sword, except its now a bloody gun.

Aw yeea, I can see it already.

"HEY! LISTEN! It's Navi on your Com! Use the hookshot to remove the Cryoarmour from that Goron!"

I did have a suggestion for how to improve the Zelda series, but it was mildly crude.

My general opinion is that it's impossible to fix what isn't broken, and all the games so far have had enough variation within the forumla to work, with some interesting side trips in the meantime.

I have an idea. Stop making spin offs of the same game.

I love me some LoZ, but it is the same game over and over...same goes for mario. Minus his whoring to minigames (golf, kart, e.t.c.)

I would love it if they could do something in the same universe of LoZ, but for me it's getting boring. Although if they take a new take on it, i.e. Twilight princess I'd be happy with that.
Thank you for contributing to the hypocracy of new in gaming. Because if they change it, people will say it ruined it.

People do not want new. They want it to seem new, without changing a thing. And I quote "I want something different...but sorta the same, but nothing too similar..."
It's the same game over and over. I like a bit of variation, change things up while keeping to the core game.

I don't care if you think I'm "Contributing to the hypocrisy of gaming". I like Zelda games, but I grow tired of the same thing over and over. That's for anything, Whether it be strategy, or turn based if you don't innovate much sequel to sequel then I won't like it.

Why does "improve" always seem to mean "make it more like the stuff I'm already playing"?
