Ummmmmm, that is simply bizarre. The OP's story, I mean. Anyway, mine is a tale of the supernatural, potentially. My uncle on my mum's side died a few years ago, when I was 12 (I'm 20 now). He was a journalist in Cumbria, but had a house in Birmingham (near where we live and he was raised), and he spent most of his time at his Cumbria newspaper, or travelling around the world (he was a prolific traveller who always said he would never marry until he'd travelled to every country, a feat he nearly managed too, though he did seem to have a lot of girlfriends over the years during his travels...). Well, from his travels his house was filled with all sorts of stuff, and wasn't exactly well-kept, with the front and back gardens being a complete overgrown mess and the house being full of all sorts of random stuff. As my grandmother (his mother) was next-of-kin, when he died she recieved everything and so she put the house on the market since none of us had a use for it. We (my mum, my nan, and me and my brother) went to clean it all and sort out all the stuff my uncle had left behind, some of which ended up decorating our conservatory wall when it was all over and done with (half the items he had, like a machete and a boomerang, have interesting stories of their own, in fact).
Well, part of the job was clearing all the overgrown vegetation from the front of the house, so my mum went to it with a hedge trimmer. She was happily cutting away when she noticed something out the corner of her eye that looked just like my uncle. She stopped and turned around, but there was no-one there. When she looked, however, she noticed she'd almost cut the wire of the hedge trimmer and electrocuted herself. Since then she's always thought that it was her brother's spirit warning her, saving her life.
You want something a bit creepier? Though this is kind of nicer as well for me. That same year, near Christmas, my grandfather also died. We reckon he never really got over his son's death and he had massive health problems near the end of the year, before dying in hospital. Not long after he died, my nan went to the bathroom in her house, only to run out screaming and phoning my mum asking her to come round. Turns out she'd apparently seen my grandfather, her late husband, in the bath. Since then she's been a lot calmer about it, and reckoned that he was simply appearing to her to say "it's alright, everything's fine, I'm doing okay on the other side", as it were. Either way, ever since my uncle and grandfather died, my mum has reported that sometimes when she's been under a lot of stress she's dreamt of them both and they've been telling her in her dreams that everything will be okay and work out alright, and telling her not to worry so much.
Not sure if any of this is true evidence of ghosts or an afterlife, though since I trust my family and I believe myself in something like an afterlife and spirits, I'm inclined to believe this is good evidence on the whole. Of course, I'd like to experience something myself. There've been plenty of times while I've been at university that I've wished my uncle or grandfather's spirit would come to me, even just in a dream, and tell me everything will be alright and give me hope (particularly around exam time

).
