Don't give players the option of making the AI play the game for them. I managed to get most of the way through a level while playing with my feet.

Why? that was your choice, so because theres an easy way out you take it.

That says more about you then it does about the game.

Okay do we remove Hint coins from Layton because we have the internet?

How about refusing to include battle Demos in SRPG games because, hey you can skip them.
I'm saying that the level of customization should be so detailed that the game becomes too easy. That was the point where I stopped using gambits because they took fun out of the game. They shouldn't put gambits in the Final Fantasy 13.

We allready have the battle system of FFXIII which is why this topic is pointless.

It's similar to White Knight Chronicles Combat system except with points (Each action takes a certain amount of points you have each turn, which leads to cinematic style combos I believe)

Random encounters are gone for good though people so... *Dances on Random Encounters grave*
Oh, well I've never played that game so I haven't experienced it first-hand, but that sounds like it could work well.

New game out in english... oh this year Americas spring maybe?

have a combat video on my Youtube account http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sk4ApFTzZvc&feature=channel_page

Square is allways talking about making the combat more 'Cinematic'
If FF13's combat is like that, then I'll definitely enjoy it.

She needed to die or else there was going to be way too much drama between her and Tifa. Also I think that if FF7 met the KH combat system it would be a good game.

I feel like people might stop bitching if it was called anything other than Final Fantasy. It won't though because the name sells. In order to save it? Does it need saving? I don't know, I've never played it before, I prefer to judge a game after it comes out.

While not a HUGE JRPG fan, I have loved a few of them. The battle system from what I've seen appears to be kind of changing things up a little bit. For me though, this is the main point they need to listen to (I'm not saying they're doing this either): Don't try and make in FFVII again. Okay, VII was pretty good, but playing through that again with a new skin and different names would not be so great. Keep it light-hearted, like IX, like VI.

Reading this thread I see that people are all over the place when it comes to what they want and don't want. I guess it's one of those you can't please everyone problems. One thing i noticed everyone talking about was the gameplay idea with the gambits and that's one thing I didn't like also. The gambits were fun for awhile but they got old and boring. Once I could set up my gambit to the point were all I did was push my analogy stick around the game got real boring. I know you could turn the gambits off but the game just slowed down so much because the combat was built for gambits.

I don't think Final Fantasy can be "saved" and maintain it's identity. The people who like FF games will keep buying them, the people who hate them will keep ranting about them.

*Put someone in the game as awesome as Auron - as if that were even possible!
It's not. No one is more badass than Auron. No one. He even survived KHII without taking a mark down.
I disagree. I think Auron is the best FF character there is...but in KH, they just made him weird and generic...there was no enigmacy, or charm...nothing! And the costume wasn't there...what the hell happened to his glasses?

Aaanyway, I think they should give the controls back to TN. That way the future games might have a slight chance of being better than FF12 which was as interesting as a soggy towel. Admit it...12 will never ever beat 10.

Personally, I loved 12. The reviewers loved 12 [http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/459841.asp]. People who didn't like 12 are in the greater minority.

There were some worries that the automated "Gambit" system would sabotage the game, but actually it saved it. Frankly, RPGs come down to choices so damn easy you might as well just set some rules and let the game play itself anyway.

13 doesn't need saving. Squaresoft knows what they're doing. Usually. FFVIII summon-heavy gameplay sucked, and they release the occasional bomb, but generally speaking they know what they're doing.

This won't be much but it's all I got.
First: we kill off Square Enix.
Second: We, the gamers, make Final Fantasy XIII.
Third: Profit.

But if I wasn't a total dick I'd suggest at least 20 cliches in the story, a non-saving-the-world storyline, reasonably dressed girls, reasonably sized tits (I know this will decrease sales because of the nerds, but we need to get them to look at reality), a dark, bloody atmosphere and most of all: let's not have like One thousand ''real'' bad guys. Have one real bad guy, then work your thumbs off to get to him and once to you kill the fuck out of him give us a mini game where we get to torture him. I'm not a game designer, but I'm sure Square would be able to incorporate SOME of these elements, hell they got the money and the followers.

I am a big Final Fantasy fan. They are the games that I grew up playing. I still think VI and VII are two of the greatest RPGs ever. I read this thread and saw all the post's written by the haters and was a little annoyed....at first. Then I watched the trailer for FFXIII. It looks horrendous and it makes me embarrassed to say I am a fan of Final Fantasy. I can't believe the direction they have taken the series in. I hate to say it, but the haters are right, the series needs to end.

I also loved 12, you are not alone. And I agree, Square, for the most part, knows what they're doing. However the long production time on FFXIII is what's REALLY making people angry.

Just a little suggestion for the mods:

Do you think maybe you could pick just one of the million identical threads to this, and lock the others? It might make things simpler.

Stop Westernizing it. Take some influences, sure - the best in the series have, but mainly from historical periods. But the annoying American OC characters, and geeky action is cringeworthy.

Actually, just make IX again it was the best.

Save a game that's not out yet?
Makes sense.

SAVE FFXIII!!
The game that most of us know virtually nothing about yet!

I understand SOME people's disliking to the FF series, I myself have always found myself enjoying them. Although not to the point of fanaticism.

Remove the hype, that'll make people LIKE it when it comes out.

While i'm here, FFIX was the best one.
Steam-punk style games are too much of a minority.
