It is, nothing can ever be truly equal and the same. Even if it was the exact same in physical and/or mental form, the time of creation would differ and if it didn't it could be the time someone mentioned them in order. All this continues into the comparison.steeple said:but you gave no reasoning, you simply stated that two beings are never equal (which is arguable depending on your definition of equal as exact, or similiar), and therefore its an insultJay Parrish said:No it is an insult. I have explained my reasoning and nothing you said countered it or gave any reasoning towards it being incorrect.steeple said:Im sorry, but I have to disagree:Jay Parrish said:Comparing any two beings is an insult. To me anyway. This may sound idiotic but it shows more wisdom than it implies. No two begins are equal, to compare them is normally an insult to both, or sometimes just one.Darkspectar said:How is that an insult... I need Within Temptation...
If in this case I was not the one the comparison insulted I still do not agree with it. As my name and being was used to insult that of someone else. As I have given no consent towards this, it is a misuse of my rights and is therefore also an insult to me.
no two beings are exactly equal, that is correct, but all human beings have the same basic features, since we all derive from the same type of (if not a single) ancestors. understanding this, comparing two is not an insult at all, but simply an observation, to see how the two are the same, and how they are unique.
and since everything is subjective, nothing is trully superior to another, therefore saying that its an insult to one is false (why should one be insulted if the difference doesnt say its for the better or worse?)

Of course he can, all things can be compared. However that does not relate to the whole "insult" aspect of it.Darkspectar said:I know the character Alistair from Dragon Age can be compared to Xander from Buffy the Vampire Slayer... probably because Alistair drew influence from Xander.
the act of comparing is taking two things, wheter objects or others, and observing their similarities and differences. between humans, which all share basic similarities (as I said), its used to view the differences. you have yet to explain how this makes for an insult (like I said, no trait can be viewed as better or worse, since its all subjective)Jay Parrish said:It is, nothing can ever be truly equal and the same. It is NOT possible to have two equal things. True, some things can be close enough to being the exact same to where nothing is really an insult. However, this being the result of two humans being compared is very, very, very unlikely.
Thus whenever I am compared to another human it is an insult.
I said he was the sensible one 75% jokingly, but the reason is that sometimes arguments are nothing more then ego-boosters (I do however try my best to make this an exeption, and I think we have succeded in this for the meanwhile)Jay Parrish said:Avoiding education is moronic to say the least. Wrong once again, it would be an insult to them. Since it's my name and being that is being used to insult them it makes is insulting to them and me as I did not give my consent for the use of my name. This is a misuse of my rights and an insult.Darkspectar said:I know if I compared you to, say, Hitler it would be an insult but if I compared you to Sharon den Adel, it would be a compliment.
