I'm pretty sure Bioware's not going to make ME3's plot the generic "LET'S FIND THE SUPERWEAPON AND OWN EVERYTHING!"

I think what we will find out in ME3 why the Reapers do what they do. Surely no one believes that the Reapers are just wiping out galactic civilizations "for the lulz". The reason will probably be the salvation of the current civilizations encompassing the Milky Way.
You kind of find out at the end of 2. They use the species to make more reapers. The protheans all had squidfaces, so all the prothean generation reapers are space squids.

Well, if Sovereign was trying to unlock the Citadel so the Reapers travel through it, since it was a Mass Relay. why not just move it so it aims for the Galactic Core, where there's nothing but black holes there. Since I doubt the Reapers have the ability to survive a black hole.
What do you think got the Normandy through the Omega 4 Relay? A Reaper IFF. All the Reapers have that thing installed so they can travel relatively safe to the galactic core without fear of spaghetification.

Besides, they're not using the relay anymore. They're taking problems into their own hands after Sovereign and the Collectors failed terribly.

Honestly, the only chance the galactic civilizations have is to destroy the Relays. The Reapers use them to easily access the core worlds of the Galaxy. By destroying them you're slowing down the total anihilation of galactic civilization by at least thousands of light years giving that the Reapers themselves posses to Faster Than Light or Light speed travel capabilities.

I understand that they're trying to breed but something doesn't make sense. Is the last generation of Reapers destroyed and lets the new generation take its place or does it work alongside future generation? (Since the Protheans were not the first civ to fall to the might of the Reapers I'm fairly sure that there should be more diversity within the species.

Still, there needs to be an actual reason behind this breeding. Otherwise, it would make no sense as to why the Reapers would just wipe out galactic civilization only to reproduce giving that they themselves are immortal.

That's what I was wondering. In the cutscene we saw at least hundreds, I assume there are at least thousands or tens of thousands, possible hundreds of thousands, millions, or even billions.

I have a feeling the Reapers are not going to be defeated purely through force.

The Reapers lost all use of the Citadel as a mass relay, they're now going to plan 2: Flying to the Milky Way conventionally. Which means they will, eventually, get there.

Honestly I have no clue how Shep's going to do it, hence the reason deciding on keeping the collector base or destroying it was so hard for me. (I destroyed it)

I bet Shepard figures out how to turn all the mass relays into self-destruct nukes. reapers will try using the relays which will explode, killing the reapers. The result is the reapers are killed, but all species are separated again because there will be no relays to travel through.
Or Shepard can develop a massive virus which you will only be able to use once the reapers have wiped out several species.

I really, really hope you'll be right.

Well, it's pretty much certain that Shep's gonna die in it so...hmm.

Just...anything but an OP superweapon. Hrr.
I genuinely cannot wait to see how everything pans out:O.
