An old mobile phone or an old pocket watch. The phone is unlikely to get stolen due to it's age and the pocket watch will be inconspicious and probably attached to my pockets via chain.

Most likely a couch since I'd keep it at home when not in use and the circuit would blend it into my living room. Then when I'd take it around it'd disguise itself to where ever it dragged me along. So I guess I'd really not have a choice on what it'd be.

I'd destroy it. Roll it down a hill with explosives or take it apart with a crowbar. I don't think I need that kind of technology when I'm digging the present.

a sandwich. The only problems there would be my time machine getting mouldy and someone eating it, but one cancels out the other.
