How would you fix the Wii?

Also-
The third party publishers need to stop trying to make every game for families. They aren't going to buy that many games anyway.

TPPs need to revive and update some old favorites:

A Contra FPS

A Castlevania and/or Guardian Legend open world game

How about a Blaster Master demolition game.

It just needs to improve the reliability of online connections, improve the Wii-Motes sensoring(which the new attachment should fix), and get more games for the veteren gamer crowd. Not to say their are no good games for it, but it appears to be the same as the DS now. The titles I want are dried up, and now just released cheap party titles. The console was good on paper, and I bought it for the potential it has, but the potential is not being fully realized right now. So far, It was worth it for only $250, but if it had cost anymore, I would be very disappointed in it.

I'm really not sure why people keep asking for improved graphics. They are good as is. Graphics do not make a game any better, they are just extra eyecandy.

make the games have better(decent) graphics, and maybe release more than 4 worthwhile games, lastly, give the wii some decent internet support instead of a bullshit shop channel full of crap games and an internet channel that can barely play any videos, but maybe my expectations are a little high for those idiots at Nintendo (remember how they screwed us with the DS?)

Give the Wii nunchuck its own pointer and give the Wiimote its own analog stick to create more possible control schemes. In terms of games the wii could really thrive with point and click adventure games and turn based RPGs, so I guess Nintendo should strike more deals with TellTale games and Square Enix.

To answer the question posed by your topic title terraMGP, I wouldn't fix it. It doesn't need fixing. As hardware goes, as well as quality titles, it's great the way it is. The only issue is that more third party developers and publishers need to design better games for it instead of some tacky, half-assed title with gimmicky controls that poorly emulate some other title on the system. Which is something you already brought up. So, unfortunately, I have nothing more to add to the discussion that hasn't already been said. Besides, despite all the haters and nay-sayers that flood the internet, the Wii is still the #1 selling console on the market with worldwide unit sales higher than the 360's and PS3's numbers combined.

Oh, and Tinker ftw.

Doing so would make the console itself more expensive, which is counterproductive to Nintendo's business model. The graphics are fine as they are anyway, assuming you're not a graphics whore. Which I'm going to take a flying leap and guess that most nongamers (a large part of Nintendo's target demographic aren't.
and maybe release more than 4 worthwhile games
There are plenty of worthwhile games, as has been pointed out innumerable times.

I'd rather they work on improving online service as a whole instead of their internet channel. The internet channel is pretty superfluous in my opinion, making it better won't help.

No, I don't remember how they screwed us with the DS. Elaborate?

...with a hammer.

Actually I love my Wii, I hope they keep the Wiimote, but they could go a long way in accuracy and responsiveness in the next generation.

I also agree that a set controller would help, it could keep from unnecassary gimmicks.

I've always seen the Wii as the best companion console. It has a different a unique experience from the rest of the market while with the PS3, 360 and PC the games if you own only one you own them all.
Also, virtual console is <3

Here is an idea to improve the console itself. They could release a redesigned version much like Sony did with the redesigned PS2. In the redesigned Wii, the main change would be the graphics card. Unless I missed it, I don't think I've seen that mentioned in previous posts yet. One of the biggest drawbacks to the current Wii (as much as I love playing it) is that the graphics don't look as good as they could. As PC gamers know, the same game can look considerably better when you upgrade your graphics card and reinstall the game. The Wii has an ATI graphics card that works fine for the virtual console stuff but that can't really handle 3-D graphics in the disc games very well. They need to work with ATI to make a graphics card that does anti-aliasing at least, if not also doing a better job of rendering textures and bump-mapping. ATI has video cards for laptops capable of better 3-D rendering than what they put in the Wii that could be adapted for use in the console.

Also in the redesign, I would make the Wii a little bigger. There is no real reason why it needs to be so small. If it were, say, twice as big, you'd have more room for better heat management which would allow for faster processors (both GPU and video card). It would also allow for having more parts inside the console instead of having to plug them into it. It's like those tiny, thin notebook computers you see now. They are really small and cool looking, until you plug into them all the drives and accessories you need. Then they start to look messy.

As much as I like the Wii Remote idea, it is just too different of a form factor for a lot of people. I'd redesign the Wii Remote to make it more like the game pads that gamers are familiar with. I know the idea was to make it more like a TV remote to appeal to non-gamers. That idea kind of backfired though, because a lot of gamers don't like the design at all. If you play games using the Wii remote without any of the skins or adaptors that have been made for it since, it really is rather uncomfortable after a while. It could be more ergonomic than it is. In some games, it's hard to hit the tiny + and - buttons fast enough. That's why the classic controller and third party controllers like the Thrustmaster one were made, I know, but those controllers don't have the motion sensing that the Remote has. If the Remote had been made to look and feel more like the Thrustmaster to start with, it would have been better.

It would also come in more colors than just white. White is about the worst color to make anything you are going to handle on a daily basis. It's hard to keep looking clean as it shows every fingerprint and mark. It should at least come in black if not other colors like dark grey (my favorite), red, blue and orange.

Finally, I'd make the motion sensing technology more advanced than it is. It's pretty revolutionary already, but as other posters have pointed out, it's not quite the 1:1 motion mapping that gamers were hoping for when the console first came out. Some games like Dragon Quest Swords come close, but still aren't quite there yet. There is the new sensor bar coming out that newer games will be compatible with, but it should have been with the console to start with instead of making gamers buy yet another part.

I like the Wii, but those are some changes a redesigned Wii could have.

To be specific Project H.A.M.M.E.R.

I don't think the Wii needs fixing really, just a few more "hardcore" titles. And to the person who said Nintendo don't allow violent games on their consoles, one word, MadWorld.

The Wii just needs some great games like on the N64, Brawl is good but not great, if it had the same gameplay as Melee I am sure everyone would be happy. I bought alot of classic games on my Wii lately because non of the Wii games don't last long or have staying power!

MA games usually have deeper more complex story lines to appeal to people who are tired of rescuing princesses.
Not always. Persona 3 would have been given a "T" rating if it weren't for some violent scenes.

1. Appeal to the hardcore market more.
2. Make a Zelda game that isn't a remake of OoT (I miss when LOZ was new and refreshing).
