1) Congratulations for walking away and not dropping to his level.

2) The girl should see that and think better of you, not worse. If she doesn't, fuck it, she's not for you.
This fellow is right. Violence in real-life is rarely an answer. and if that guy had a lot of friends with him, you were dead if you started fighting him
and it's better to "lose" to this guy than get beaten up by him, it kinda not impresses girls if you get beaten up.

2 possible resolutions here. 1.Glasgow kiss, Swift kick to the groin, get on with life. 2. Do exactly what you did . Either one works with roughly 97.44% efficiency. Well done picking option 2 good sir. You win a speedboat!

You got what you should have expected.

You don't show up to a stadium and root for the opposing team, and only someone looking to pick a fight would do it so flamboyantly. Hey everyone look at me in the opposing teams gear, does that piss you off? I would have never guessed that it would.

I don't wear atheist shirts in church, and I don't go to stadiums dressed up in the other teams jersey and sit in the home team section either.

PS: Yes the chick probably thinks less of you now for rooting for the wrong team and then making her leave in shame, but you could have avoided it by wearing a different shirt. Too bad.
to be honest you sound like a bit of a dick. i mean that in the nicest way possible. you should be able to go to a game in what ever colours you want. name calling is ok but having ice and popcorn thrown at you is abit rude.

you are whats wrong with sports nowadays. its not about violence its about fun and a little bit of rivalry. you shouldnt be physically assualted for supporting a different team.
I'm not a sports guy, and I don't think popcorn counts as being assaulted. I'm just being a strong counter point to all the people saying the OP did the right thing. IMO the right thing would have been to A not sit in the home section while wearing the opposing teams gear, and B not been so surprised when people picked on him.

If you can't take the heat, don't jump into fires.

First off, congrats for doing the right thing. As for your question...I'm not quite that bright when I get worked up. Were I in your shoes, someone would have gotten hurt.

there shouldnt be a fire in the first place. the right thing is that you can go to any sports event in what ever colours you want and yes you can expect some name calling but having ice and popcorn thrown at you is a bit much.

Assault is a crime of violence against another person. In some jurisdictions, including Australia and New Zealand, as well as the USA, assault refers to an act that causes another to apprehend an immediate harmful contact, whereas the actual contact itself is called "battery. from wikipedia

I would have gotten security and had them throw him out or tell him to piss off... People can be such jerks "Like what I like or I'll beat you". Speaking of which, sounds a lot like some religions too...

Ehh, for myself, if I was with someone that started fist fights (regardless of the outcome), I'd be very embarrassed and probably slink out of there as to not be associated with anyone who would act like that. It's not really a masculinity issue for me, moreso a stupidity one. Like with most conflict I face (which is never), I'd probably ignore the person coaxing me to retaliate especially in a physical sense.

If you've got 22 minutes to burn, this is the unfortunate answer to your question:

(yes, the first part seems out of nowhere, but it relates to your problem; after the first commercial break, you?ll see)
