How would YOU like to play in the future?

Yes yes I've heard all about new things such as project Natal, 3D gaming and the like but I'm wondering are there any other ways you would like to play games in the future?

People have talked about games satisfying all of the five senses but it just doesn't seem possible nor worth it (I wouldn't like to taste Mirelurk cakes, thank you very much) but hey at least people are being thoughtful. I do think though that perhaps the temperature of the controllers changing could be a good idea, but I would be scared in case the controller suddenly blows up.

So does anybody have any practical ideas about how they would like to play?

Do you remember that commercial for PS2 where they showed the PS9 and it was like Nanites that made u believe you were actually in the game? That's how I wanna play. Oh, you meant things that are practical now? I personally think Project Natal is a really good idea, or at least a good start. I'll probably get it if for no other reason than it'll be fun at parties.

I want to play the Revostation 920.7 where we use controllers in a way to control things project natal like on a 3d TV so that the immersion in my game Discharged becomes so realistic you can't tell the difference between the game and real life

Or like I am today, I want to play to unwind and relax and have fun

Eventually, I'd love a fully immersive virtual world such as what is represented by in William Gibson novels or the "Otherland" series by Tad Williams or for the anime fans, the .hack series.

We already incorporate 2 of the 5 senses into gaming (hearing and seeing). The only other one that I'm really interested in experiencing is smell. Imagine being able to smell what you character smells. You could hear that enemy sneaking up behind you, or you could smell that enemy coming up behind you, or both. I think it would be awesome.

I also like the idea of temperature controlled controllers. On it's own it would add more immersion to the game.

In space!
I got an idea.

You have a gaming room in space. You are floating in the room, held in the center by magnets held on your person, and oppositely charged magnets embedded in the walls, floor and ceiling. You can dodge, run, perform acrobatic stunts etc thanks to weightlessness, but you remain in the center of the room, while a natal style interface tracks your actions and controls the game. Nanotechnology allows you to easily obtain any props you need, swords, guns, armor etc that are exact replicas of those your character has in the game. The walls are 3D screens displaying everything as if it was real, and you are wearing special glasses, so that even as you extend your arm forward, the game can simulate fire coming through your fingers and blasting your enemies away.

What do you think? :p

Not really. I've no idea at what stage 3D gaming is at, mainly because it costs more than my freaking PS3 (which I got before the price cut).
If 3D gaming became cheaper, and didn't require you to wear those stupid glasses, I would get it in a heartbeat.
Other than that, nothing. I really like where we are presently with gaming.

I love this. XD

So I'm guessing the only thing in the near future is motion controllers and 3D huh?
Then again consoles have came so far it's hard to imagine what else you can do with them.

I've seen Sony's new motion controller and it looks like it works pretty well (and it looks like a big lolly pop), and Natal looks fun but could be destructive to the room around you xD
