How would you react if games were suddenly banned?

I would make a case that games are a form of art and therefore a form of expression. The 1st amendment and the law degree I would get as a result of this outrage would take care of the rest. At least in America. In Europe, where there is no freedom, video games would die. Forever.

One more thing. People seem to be saying that they'd lead the rebellion. If everyone was leading, there would be only generals, and anyone who has played Rise of Nations knows, generals can't fight. If my legal plan failed, I would work to unify resistance, and possibly get a position of command in some rebel army. Nothing higher than a captain however.

it would probably depend very seriously on the book, what did you have in mind?

i would probably be safe, thanks to the fact that i play virtually no very violent games. let's see someone ban chess and say that that is to protect people from being violently murdered.

The Bible. Duh.

But i would probably illegally sell all my game stuff after a while--the value would go up, you see--and then buy a shiny new amp. Then play a SHITTON of guitar every day.

Attach a big ol' lump of thermite to my hard drive so when the FBI comes calling they don't have a case. Until they actually walk through the door, keep playing.

If games were suddenly banned, it'd turn my current aspirations towards game design into an interesting new direction by making me a provider of forbidden fruit. It might even be good for me, what with all the big companies forced underground, forced to compete on the same level as a rank newbie developer like myself.

But, aside from breaking the law, I'd probably just take up a lot more reading.

eh, i'd shrug it off. but secretly i would form a resistance group that would create its own computers and consoles and games. come to think of it, the world would be much better that way; since the group would be invite only, only those worthy enough to play games would get to play them.

Hope this hasn't been said but, I would do all the horrible things people say are caused by the games like shootouts in a mall, flaming houses, not killing my parents but maybe someone elses.

Delicious irony.

Imagine a world where the tern noob refers to a mythical trickster.

i would join some anti-anti-game rebellion then like every other truthful person would sit around playing games while im supposed to be breaking government stuff.

seriously though if they did ban games there would be an uprising of people who have nothing else to do and the government would be outvoted...you do not want to release all the stay at home lvl 65 cod player, or the people who got to their 70th play through fallout 3/mass effect. they get mad waaaay too easily anyway.

I agree with you. Knowing the government they would argue that such an action would better society by keeping all the worlds children from becoming the next Mansons and Bundys. That said I would do one of two things to sway the vote in our favor...

One: go to congress with a list of innocent games, the same argument of "guns don't kill, humans do" but shape it for games, and perhaps drag in a few famous people to testify because the stars are practiclly royalty and influence almost everything

Two: go to congress and take away the billions of dollars of revenue that keep the struggling economy and politicians afloat because they'll listen to anyone threatening to take money from their pockets
