I'm just gonna assume I'm free of this computer disease. I haven't experienced any problems and really there wasn't any sites that I could possibly think to get a virus on.
Likewise, I think I'm safe as well. My computer is running fine and like Toastiest said, I really don't go to any sites I could have gotten a virus from.

Well, this is pretty scary actually. Luckily, I'm fine. But still, I'll probably check up on it again before July 9th. If only to make sure.

Stopped reading there. If anyone still uses Internet Explorer it's those people who open every fucking email they get no matter who it's from or what the subject is.

i.e. My parents.
This.
Mozilla > I.E. and my parents use Opera, so tbh, I couldn't care less.
Also, I am apparently "clean" according to that site at least, aand I am a savvy enough browser and internetter that I don't need antivirus.
Considering I.E. is still the #1 used web browser, it's not as weird of a thing to say as you two are making it out to be.
Yeah, I know it's quite popular, I guess it is my Browser elitism surfacing.

You should probably still get an anti-virus software. There's Microsoft Security Essentials that you can get for free. It's not McAfee or Kaspersky, but it's better than nothing.

Besides remember the saying, "It's better to have something and not need it, then not have something and need it."
It's not that I think that AV programs are beneath me or anything, its just that they are quite jittery and take up (in my point of view) unnecessary HDD space.

-I still have Defender and Essentials, but I turn them off at startup, I might keep them on for slightly longer during July.

It was very nice of the FBI to not just take the servers down, but actually giving a shit about the people, considering how they dealt with the whole megaupload thing.

You can check manually by searching fbi.gov for dnschanger. The first result is a pdf with a list of rogue DNS servers. Compare your DNS servers (using ipconfig /all in a command prompt if you run Windows) to that list to see if you need to worry.

Mine seem to be just fine.

Great, not only I have to deal with my own country cutting internet access from time to time because we have a shitty system, but I have to deal with the U.S. too.

Why, is BT taking over providing for the UK? Oh snap.

Also; Doesn't seem like a bad idea, just seems like poor execution.

Apparently I'm all good.
So how do we end up getting this particular strand of computer aids?
The usual. Just lay off on your midget horse porn for a while and you should be fine.

I am begining to get really paranoid about this!
I am I infected or am I just worrying too much?
Time for me to do some scans just to be safe.

Thank Christ I'm clean. Though I'm not surprised since I visit maybe 7-8 sites in total and only 2-3 of them daily.

Hmm thats one of the more insidious ones I've seen, almost as clever as the BIOS subverting virus.

I update and run all three of my scans weekly, and CCleaner several times a day. I am confident my computer is OCD-level clean.

Wow, that's sort-a kind-a horrifying. On the PC mag. article they said it was primarily Win/Mac PCs that were infect. I'm not sure if a Linux machine saved me or not, but thanking Linus Torvald anyhow.
If Linux is built on code, then you're at risk.

Just so we're clear. You're at risk.

Don't fall into the same false sense of security all Mac users fall into. "I don't get viruses, because I have a *insert name here*".
I have an abacus. Am I safe?!?!

Hilarious, I wonder how they distributed? The article seems to imply the average internet user and below, i.e....well, IE users. The kind that open all the things and click all the popups.
I'd be surprised if many here were infected, unless they were very clever with distributing it.
