Why does everyone forget Episode 3? They can't leave that cliffhanger hanging like that! Besides, the time we've waited for HL3 is much less than the time for Half Life 2. I don't get how people get so anxious.
There's really a difference if it's named one title over the other?

Half Life 2 was awesome and the Episodes were more of that great, immersive storytelling and solid game mechanics (overlooking the hilarious ragdolls) but it's been so long that I can't care for Half Life 3 anymore. They apparently lost interest themselves and just make more hats for Team Fortress and new maps for Left4Dead 2 now. Episode 3 is way overdue and could never live up to the hype anyway, or else it would have to be a full-sized game and not the 3 hour campaign Episode 2 was, and Half Life 3 would have to be the second coming of Christ to satisfy fans. I suppose it's both a monetary and an image thing, they just won't release it anymore as they couldn't make it work anyway.

I'd probably get myself a good book and avoid the internet like the fucking plague for a couple of months after its release so I don't get caught up in the shitstorm over how unbelievably dissapointing, short, repetitive, generic, repetetive, ugly, repetitive and underwhelming the whole thing will turn out to be.

Because seriously, no game could live up to this amount of anticipation. Anyone who still cares will be disappointed.

I have a feeling the delay has to do with waiting for the next generation of consoles, Simple as that.

Kinda' wanna see if they mesh Half Life's story with Portal. That'd be funny as hell.

I guess I'd be happy that people are finally going to get to play it, but beyond that I'd be pretty apathetic to the news.

I don't really play a lot of Valve games, especially the HL series, so I'd have no interest in the game itself.

Still, I acknowledge the series has a fanbase that has been eagerly awaiting the news, so I'd be happy for them, if nothing else.

I'm holding out for Half Dead Portal Fortress 3 to come out.

I'd probably go "Oh, cool. I guess I'll have to pick that up sometime. Maybe the next Steam sale." and then not give any more thought. UNLESSS, of course, the trailer is really, really awesome.
I like Half Life, but I wouldn't classify myself as a fan of it.

I didn't enjoy HL2 and don't care about HL2E3/HL3. My reaction will be "maybe now people will stop whining about it".

I'd be happy and immediately start saving up the money so I could buy it on launch. Given that it was six years between Half-Life 1 and Half-Life 2, and it's only been five since Episode 2, my only expectation is for a game at least as good as Half-Life 2 was; nothing more and nothing less. I see no need for either hype or cynicism.

You mean to suggest that there is any valid answer to this question other than "Reach for my credit card"?
Perhaps "reach for my Steam Credit card"? (ba-dum tish)

But yeah. You're right. I too would have the game pre-ordered and pre-loaded the day it was announced. Then I'd just sit back and bide my time while I eagerly awaited it's launch day.

Though, if that launch day is a week day....it'll end up being the longest work-day ever. I doubt I'd get much done that day. :p

I'd begin to bandage my now broken fingers after lunging at the screen did not allow me to grab a copy through the internet.

Also gotta love the so-called "uninterested people" jumping into the thread just to take a shit on it. We get it guys. You're so cool and uber hip for not liking what other people like. You can leave now.
But doing this is the only thing they get enjoyment from anymore. They've become so jaded and hip that they simply can not enjoy anything else anymore. Therefore, their only recourse is to make sure no one else gets to enjoy anything either.

And, seeing as the "cool thing to do" on this forum now-a-days is to shit on Half-Life and it's fan base, they usually just hop into threads like this and start in with the usual shit. Never really realizing the irony (or hypocrisy) of taking the time to post in a thread on something they "couldn't care less about".

Though, I absolutely LOVE when these same people will flip the fuck out on you if you DARE go into a thread on their favorite game series and imply you don't like it. Oh my God...the shit storm of accusations you'll face.

I'd hurry the fuck up and finish the Half-Life series.
Yeah this to, I hope the HD remake is completed before it happens. The old graphics in first person gave me a headache.
I can't honestly tell you exactly what it will be like, but from everything I've seen of that fan "reimagining" of Half-Life, it will barely be like the first game at all.

They've essentially changed everything about the original game. Redesigned the maps, changed the characters, replaced the music, changed the weapons, hell....it even seems like they've changed the story.

I don't doubt the mod will be fun, but don't look at it as an HD remake of the original. Because, frankly, nothing they've shown indicates that to be the case.

This is why I keep telling people, "If you really want to know what the original game was like, then go play the original game. This fan-made mod won't do it."

There are so many cynics...
I would do pretty much what I did with Skyrim. Pre-order a physical copy (because heaven knows Steam's servers will be dead within the first half hour of release), get to the nearest game store as fast as possible, then play the shit out of that game!
