Because they're Valve, and that's a Valve thing to do.

Well, if it's officially annouced, then my boycott of Valve games will end. Until we actually see something of HL3, I will not play L4D, Portal, Counter-Strike, Day of Defeat, Team Fortress 2, or anything else related to valve.
