Every game I've played (With the exception of MW2 which I played on Veteran first) is always done on Normal first. That's why it is called the Normal difficulty.

Normal for me. Normal on all games, always, except for Ninja Gaiden games, because fuck those games (except for Ninja Gaiden Sigma. That I'll play on normal, because fuck Ayane).

Notice how the Ninja Gaiden series causes me to say "fuck" alot.

Yeah, I'm not to fond of the modern reboot of the franchise. I much prefer the old NES games... though I can't beat those either.

Other than that, I play on normal (as I said).

After playing Touhou on Lunatic (and actually beating one of them) I'd have to at least start at normal.
Even though I've never played on hard or lunatic, I've always played on Normal unless I felt like curbstomping Easy mode. And curbstomp I would, at least until Stage 5. Fuck you Reisen! I don't know how it's possible, but she and Eirin are harder than the real final boss. Wait where I was I going with this? Oh yeah, I tend to just play easy to crush it with ease.

I like having a challenge to overcome, so I usualy start on hard :p but If I am being forced to play the game by my friends and I know Im not going to enjoy it, then I play easy just to power through.

I tend to play on the hardest difficulty (I hate it when games make you unlock difficulties in some sad attempt to pad the game out.) I simply prefer the difficulty of it and I find it makes games more enjoyable and last longer. Sure, I probably die a lot more and it might be annoying at times, but, eh, I like the challenge.

I tend to play on easy or normal modes. This is because the point of games is to have fun, but yet again, I do not like to be bored. I suppose I prefer the middle setting.

I play in easy first and then replay on the Hardest difficulty. Gives me a brief summary of the game and the weapons and allows me to face hardest mode head on. I sort of think as easy mode as a training session.

usually easy or normal, depending on how old the game is or what ive herad about it, but if i like it and im good at it, ill usually rank it up to the highest possible and take it on, otherwise i play games for the enjoyment of what the game has to deliver in terms of story/characters/gameplay more than the competition

I always play on normal or hard difficulty. I feel like a failure if I have to play on easy. Damn you Dragon Age... you kick my ass so hard.

I usually play games on the normal setting, if I am having a hard time I will switch to easy, or if I just want to experience the story of a game I will play it on easy. I also play on the hardest difficulty if I am in the mood for a challenge.

Normal the first time for me. Easy setting is usually me just pushing buttons and watching things light up or w/e, no actual interaction or thought required.

I play on Easy mode on some games too for the same reasons you mentioned. I really dislike high difficulty, and I am not really that great at games even after playing them for so many years. I just like some moderate challenges to overcome that give me a nice sense of accomplishment, but games have to walk the fine line between being slightly too hard and pushing my patience, and being a bit too easy and having no sense of accomplishment. Most games don't really walk the line perfectly.

In my preferred genres I generally select normal difficulty at first, and if the game gets too hard for me I will switch to easy with no regrets. I play games to experience them, not 'beat' them.

Depends on what game. I usually play on normal difficulty, but if I think the game looks REALLY hard or I can't get pas a part because it's too hard, then I do easy difficulty.

Following on from the 'Games that you have to play on easy setting' post, I am not scared to admit that I always play games on the easiest setting.
I think everyone on this forum knows it by now, but I'm an Easy gamer.

Exactly.

When it comes to challenge, I put my time in. I remember before "saving" and "continues" and all those other conventions we have nowadays. You got one run.

Gaming is a way to relax for me, and relaxing != frustration.

Normal or hard to begin with for me. It would shame my integrity as a gamer to play on the easy setting.
