This is why people hate you France. Oh shit our snooty french assholery has offended people, sacre bleu! How could this be! Hurry PR people, fix zis, I must go home and watch zee Jerry Lewis!

Eat a big bowl of... you know what, Ubisoft. You attacked the entire PC player base calling them bitches and thieves. I only hope that the PC player base you attacked has the integrity and control to not buy your product any more to teach you a lesson on how to treat your customers.

Of course, this is Ubisoft, they'll immediately blame pirates if the game doesn't sell a billion copies.

LMFAO, after they called 95% of all PC gamers pirates they claim it's a translation error?
Except you know, that part's actually TRUE?

Bohemia Interactive, they received 100 pirated connection attempts for MP for every 1 legit attempt. No wonder they hate the 'PC-Only' people, the rest of us will buy whatever platforms we like and not whinge about everything as if god himself gave us a right to play video games.
I had to google who they were. Turns out they're the guys behind ARMA.

As to your claim? One game does not every PC gamer make. You saying that it's 'true' is unfounded unless you want to restrict yourself to a single title.

[sub]And it was 3 legit for every 100 pirate attempts, how can we trust you when you get the number wrong? For the record, that could simply indicate that a pirate is trying more than once, causing the number to inflate. Doesn't defend it, but does call the validity of the number into question.[/sub]

That's also working under the assumption that every single connection attempt is from a different person and the people who made that claim aren't releasing ANY evidence to support their claim.

I wouldn't count that as 100 pirated copies though, that may have easily been 10 people making 10 attempts to log in. This is the same faulty logic that Ubi uses, not every single torrent download is necessarily a single person every time nor a lost sale.

Many many moons ago, I used to be one of the bad ones but have since reformed and buy everything. I've also purchased most of the 'backlogged' games as well as purchased a good number of their sequels.

Ubisoft has released many games that are either buggy or have draconic DRM in recent years. That's why they didn't get too many PC sales. If piracy was really that much of an issue how come Valve/Blizzard/CD Projekt have no problem concentrating on PC games?
Because piracy isn't an issue for them. Piracy is only an issue when you make it an issue, like when the pirated copy of the game is superior to the legitimate one. Also, who the fuck would steal from valve?

"Aww, PC players are bitchin', man. The best guys around!"

Somehow I doubt it though.

I accidentally pirated all of your games because english is my second language, and I misread "thepiratebay.org" for "ubisoft.com".

OT: If you know how to use the word "bitching" in correct context then you cannot make this excuse.

doesn't help that most people I know that bought AX2, ended up pirating it just to remove the crappy DRM. That's right, DRM so bad, it's not only cheaper, but easier and more convenient to just pirate the damn thing. and they wonder why people pirate their games! Even paying customers have to steal from you now Ubi!

He probably felt that 100% but got convinced to apologize and didn't have the balls to go all out. I smell a liar.

Apparently the PR team finally got back from holiday and noticed all the shit they've managed to brew. A valiant effort, but the internet hardly forgets.

-I kick you in the balls.
-You object.
-I apologise, stating that I thought that when you said "How'd you like to go get some pizza?" you meant "Please kick me in the testicles", a common mistranslation if you happen to be Hungarian.
-You're still angry.
-I question why you're doubling down on being an asshole. It was an honest mistake!

See where I'm coming from with this?
Replace "object" with "tell everyone to shiv them in the kidneys" and you're in line with some of the comments I saw.
Link? I don't recall anyone wishing death on the guy, certainly not a majority.
The people saying that this totally justifies piracy if companies say things like this.
I wouldn't say it justify's it, more like their asking for it, much like the people who downloaded Metallica's library during their lawsuit against Napster JUST to piss them off.

but OT: i've never liked Ubisoft, mostly cause they never make anything i wanna play. but after the shit they said this week, and now this bit of half assed back peddling, i hope their out of business by mid next year

Found this, it's a bit old but I think it somes up everything that is wrong with Ubisoft's approach to PC Games.

I tend to fully agree with this.

People who DL a game to demo it (since the last truely accurate demo I can remember playing that fully represented the full game was Just Cause 2, which I bought 15 minutes after playing and put over 200 hrs in) are simply potential customers, you wouldn't have got a single penny out of the person who DL'd it because they are 'cash poor at the time' anyways so those would be the ones I would call a true pirates but they aren't a lost sale since they never would have bought it in the first place.

The problem is that "if" they release the game on the PC, they will have at least 2 hurdles to overcome.

1) They will add extreme DRM, that will cause people to rather have a pirated copy that works well.
2) Due to the comments, PC gamers that might have purchased it, probably won't.

This will cause them to come out and say that they were right the first time, and probably not reales there next game on the PC. Talk about self fulfilling prophecy.

Love it - the old "I no speka di English, senor" defence. Textbook.
Pretty much this.

PR saw what the moron did and now are viciously trying to reverse it. But PR can only cover smaller stuff, calling a full gaming populations pirates and whining bastards is not an easy fix.
Thats the whole Ubisoft team on PC gaming, as a whole. Were not to blame here, you expect 50,000 to sell on day ONE when it can take anywhere from years to get those sales. Especially when using Digital Distribution. Not counting you get every cent of the price. Stop your whining Ubisoft, just make the game for PC later on or something, we can wait.

Ubisoft can honestly fuck right off. They said, earlier this year that 50% of PC gamers were pirates, now its 90%. Saying that a large portion of people are just going to pirate your game instead of buying it is not true in the slightiest. Using the word bitching in a conversation, "Quit your bitching, let me list several bullshit reasons so I can tell you all fancy like to fuck right off." There is no logical reason not to release it on PC, and I still have no doubts it would sell.

Ubisoft only has their own fault to blame on this one. They DRM the crap out of the game, people still buy it, they don't release the game on PC with little to no reason to do so and people will get mad. If they didn't DRM the crap out of their games, then they would sell more. You really just can't take this guy's side on this one. Faked numbers which are always speculation, told the whole PC community to fuck right off and now, instead of apologizing and re-wording the past, his PR team are just going to hastily rehash it and try to make it sound nicer.

Ah well, at least it's funny seeing him try to distance himself.

Hell hath no fury like a PC gamer with an internet connection, apparently.
That's right because users of other platforms don't throw shit fits when they think they are getting a raw deal, oh wait....
I'unno, do they?

On this site it's mostly us PC types I see pumping the rage. The Escapist folks know it too, that's why they report on this sort of thing. Outrage is probably second only to good ol' sex when it comes to generating hits.
True, but consoles very rarely get the 'raw deal' in any case. The only time I remember always seeing a Console gamers flipping shit is when the PC version get the DLC for free or some other deal, like more content.

At what point did he say we're assholes? If anything, the original comments are the kind of thing you'd expect a complete asshole to say.

I'm sorry, but taking offence at someone who implies that an entire group of people consists entirely of thieves and whiners hardly makes the person that's offended an asshole.
Sorry, I guess its more a personal thing where I think of whingers as assholes, so I guess it doesn't really work.

Doesn't mean you guys still aren't acting like assholes right now.
He over generalizes a WHOLE community, adds in so much DRM that the game isn't playable, people STILL buy the game on PC, for a last kick in the balls doesn't let a game come to PC at all despite the fact it would sell.

Its like if someone said all Console gamers are retarted because they can't learn how to use a keyboard correctly or make their Computer play games. And this is coming from a Developer like Bethesda "No, you won't be getting the next Elder Scrolls game because your all too stupid to learn how to install a game on your PC or use a keyboard correctly." Then tries to back away with a "Sarhay senior, my enzgliez no gooz."

I think that all of us know, deep down, that this is an abusive relationship toward both parties by the other.
