so after 22 years of life, here is what i can come up with so far.

It is impossible to create something out of nothing, right? so everything that is in this planet, you, me, every partical of existance had to have allready existed in space before the forming of planet earth.

so everything that is inside you is also inside the universe. in a way you are a universe, you are THE universe.

we are the creaters of all this right here.

if life is truly random and chaotic than the only thing that one can be sure of is themselves. it is the only thing that you have control over and can positively without a doubt KNOW.

I am god, you are god. We are god.

Sorry if this is incomprehensible blabber, its late and i'm tired. i think i will watch some ghost in the shell and go to sleep.

Goodnight gods.

Edit: for the record i know this sounds a lot like five percent islam. i draw a lot of insperation from the wu tang on this one.

Double edit after reading some posts: I am not solipsistic. I acknowledge that you exist as your own indepent entity. what i tried to say in this post is that everything is connected. we are all the same amorphus goo. I am you, and i am god, so you are god, and we are all together.

Tripple edit: I have never seen Babylon 5.
You most certainly are NOT my god.

I swear, the rampant atheism on this site sickens me, sometimes. Heavy doses of atheism and liberalism pepper these boards. I can only hope some of you come to your senses one day. Go ahead and flame away at me for saying as such.
I can't be insulted by these people, this post is too ridiculous to be true.
Just chill man, they can't possibly be serious about this, it's just too stupid.

I doubt God himself wouldn't laugh.

For something to be god, it has to be at least Omnipotent, preferably Omniscient and maybe Omnipresent.
Which collapses in on itself, because any omnipotent being would be able to MAKE themselves omnipresent and omniscient too, else they are not truly omnipotent. Hence a god must be all three.

Fixed for sense-making purposes.

And even if that wasn't a massive leap over a logic wall, it still doesn't take into account how one defines a god in the first place.

Sorry =P

I don't mean this to come across as antagonistic but that comment comes across as if you want people to flame.
'Sickens you'? Now I don't claim to be an expert on any religion, but if you truly have faith in your chosen belief then that means you're certain that you are destined to an eternity of happiness and fulfilment in the afterlife. If this is the case, I can see no reason at all for having hate in your heart and, if anything, should pity those of us who don't 'see the light' as it were.
Just to clarify, I have the utmost respect for anyone who has faith; it gives a person focus and stability; but faith without compassion is just another form of prejudice, and we have too much of that as it is.

I will not flame you, that does my cause no good whatsoever.

I will however, ask you to explain to us why we should believe, and what warrants the superior tone you have taken.

Seriously? What the fuck guys? Am I missing something here? Why is the term "liberalism" regarded as negative. It means promoting the concept of individual freedom. WHO THE FUCK DOESN'T WANT THAT?! Liberalism and atheism HAVE NOTHING IN COMMON, even if your simply referring to politics. I understand why people may link conservatism and religion (the Christian faith and its beliefs are often very "conservative", which is weird, because some of those ideals aren't really related to politics anyway), but I really wish we'd do our best to separate the two.

Riff, atheism is growing, but you have to remember that they have every right to believe what they want, just like you do. I'm sick of reading comments from both extremes, but it's not like my protest will change someone's BELIEF SYSTEM. This topic is just an individuals musing anyway. For one thing, the universe pretty much did come from nothing by scientific standards.

Yeah, I got a little bit "bent out of shape", I guess. Its a culmination of several other things I have been reading. I didnt mean to lash out, and I apologize.

As far as proof, at least to me personally, all I have to do is to recall my two sons being born. I honestly dont see how anyone could witness the birth of their children and not believe in a higher power. Primordial goo does not come with a soul. :)

A "Children of Atom" Approach to theology. How... quaint
I myself prefer to just go with the theory that we are merely the result of entropy, and as incredible as that may seem, it was bound to happen at one point or another in the incredible life of this rediculous universe we live in.
And how about that: A sperm whale and a bowl of petunias just parked themselves outside my window

Everything inside us is inside the universe? Well yeah, we're IN the universe...

We are the creators of nothing but a bunch of machines on this planet. That hardly makes us deities.

Except we don't have 100% control of ourselves. Proof? Stop blinking for the next two hours. Try it.

Interesting idea, though.

... Wow, you completely missed his point. Did you even read his post, or did you just take one look at the title and try to flame him? He's not talking about gods in a religious sense, but a philosophical one. He's saying that we can do whatever we want with ourselves, and that we each are gods of ourselves. (At least that's what I took from this.)

And as for "the rampant atheism on this site," if you don't like it, you can leave. "God" forbid we have our own fucking opinions. "Come to our senses"? Do you have any proof that we're wrong?
