Why? Well, it's more practical for astronomical purposes. It sounds more awesome. And it sounds like a horrifying space monster made of flame that will devour our puny planet, like it actually is.

Huh. This isn't the Off-Topic forum.
I moved it for you.

On topic, I don't see the point. We can just keep calling it the sun.
It's faster to say, faster to type, and everyone knows exactly what we're talking about. No re-education required.

I'll stick with 'sun'.

Daystar sounds like a really old game. But yeah. There's not a huge amount of discussion here, maybe if you asked what things we think should be renamed?

I'm guessing you watch doctor who because otherwise you would know that sol is really the name of an earth day on any other planet other than earth.(Or the name if the sun in rome)

Wasn't that used in Morrowind? Can't remember and now I have to reinstall it and play it again.

Sol is awesome.
Sweden was right about something?
Fancy that.

OT: Daystar is weird but it does sound awesome and we don't have to put up with people saying, look at all the suns and stars.

In icelandic it's called Sól, just like sol but with an oh, like soul.
But I think Daystar is a cool name however, I don't think ill be using it :Þ

Sun is just another word for a star, as previously mentioned our sun's private name is Sol.

I'm in full support of the DayStar initiative.

Life needs to be more EPIC, and daystar is a tiny step in the right direction.
