Life needs to be more EPIC, and daystar is a tiny step in the right direction.
It could just be called 'star'. Correct, yes; confusing, yes as well.tomtom94 said:It's the nightstar as well, we still bathe in its light e'en after dark.
Of course, everyone on Terra knows that!Pirate Kitty said:Our sun is actually called Sol.
It's isn't. It's the English spelling of the northern European name for sun from that mythology. Sol is the latin name and Helios is the Greek. It's called Sol because latin was the main language of science in Europe for a long while.xdgt said:Sun is just another word for a star, as previously mentioned our sun's private name is Sol.
Take your pick:King Toasty said:Sun, Sol or Daystar. Any others? Because Sun is booring. We've been using it for so long.
Madame, these short sentences convey a feeling of hostility, which leads to retaliation, and eventual punishment of the instigator, which would be you.Pirate Kitty said:No. I don't.Acidwell said:I'm guessing you watch doctor who because otherwise you would know that sol is really the name of an earth day on any other planet other than earth.(Or the name if the sun in rome)Pirate Kitty said:Our sun is actually called Sol.
Sol is awesome.
No. You are wrong.
Sol is Latin.
I'm with you! Iv been calling it Sol on a daily basis for 20 years now.Pirate Kitty said:Our sun is actually called Sol.

The way I see it latin is language to turn to for names (either that or greek). Back to my point, you can call any other star sun as well but you can't call it Sol. Hence it is its private name, same for moon - you can call any chunk of rock orbiting a planet moon, for instance Jupiter has moons (with their own names), but our moon's name is Luna.More Fun To Compute said:It's isn't. On topic, I don't see the point. We can just keep calling it the sun.
It's faster to say, faster to type, and everyone knows exactly what we're talking about. No re-education required.
I'll stick with 'sun'.
