I graciously accept your apology. You are forgiven.

Also, thank you for reminding me that I need to make a thread about Total War Warhammer being not so great.
Because your favorite faction is not there ;)

TKJ is not a bad comic by any stretch of the imagination, and any opinions from anyone claiming it is can probably be safely and instantly disregarded.

But what about all the quotes that Alan Moore himself disowns the comic sayings its not his best work?

I thought Total War: Warhammer was really popular and everyone liked it? I mean its a strategy game, they're never going to make CoD numbers, I dunno what you were expecting.

Also, if AoS and the death of WHFB made you sad, look into Malifaux. It's not Fantasy by any means but the tone is very like Fantasy's weird dark humor and it plays a and feels like Mordheim.
Me too, I am super jelly that I cannot play the game because my laptop isn't quite good enough. I'm stuck trying to get warhammer dark omen to work which is proving a hefty challenge :(

Alan Moore is literally a crazy old man who hates his fans and hates comics. He's the Kurt Cobain of comic books, except without the elephant in the room.

And I have no idea if its true or not. I don't, but I'm a fan of the show. So..what does that make me?

I can see that and people thought Frank Miller is crazy infact:

Frank Miller the person seems like a normal guy, Frank Miller the Writer is freakin insane.

More or less vice versa for Alan Moore.

As for Total Warhammer...I'm still playing that game. I never stopped! It's the best Total War game ever, in my opinion. The only thing that troubles me is that Games Workshop apparently decided to set the franchise on fucking fire just before the game came out. That's just...that's bad business sense.
I was just playing my Vampire Counts campaign. For real, the youtube Total War community loves this game it sold like hot cakes. Not sure what else there is to want out of this.

I've taken note of you Sam and yeah, you are incredibly and personally invested in games/movies/media you enjoy. I love Batman and Warcraft, but in my opinion, BvS and Warcraft were both trash movies with a lot of questionable to bad decisions. If you liked them, that's great! We disagree, which is fine. But as others have said you need to be able to take a step back and separate your own happiness and self worth from the opinions of others on the things you enjoy.

Wut. The dude lost it after 9/11 (huh, convenient timing) and started ranting about terrorism and occupy Wallstreet and all kinds of political nonsense.

Isn't Warhammer owned by that company that says you can't play the game unless you play it at their stores?

Now you can learn your lesson about "hype".

Don't expect too much. Maybe you are young (under 21), or maybe you are really passionate, but if you lose your shit over things that are hyped to the max that turn out to be a dull disappointment, then that will lead to hidden stress and shit.

Enjoy things, of course. But if you get too hyped and it stresses you out with disappointment in the end, then you gotta walk away.

Okay, first thing:

And I dread that the new Adult Swim Samurai Jack is gonna be negatively received because of the new focus on being "Dark, Violent, and Brutal" basically Samurai Jack is gonna get Edgy. And I just know from many people that edgy means Bad. They hated it when Looney Tunes got edgy (Loonatics Unleashed), they hated it when Sonic got edgy (Shadow the Hedgehog) I just dread that the samething will happen to Jack. Also they said it was gonna come out this year, but so far only a few images so its most likely delayed to a later year so I get no Samurai Jack this year.
Comparing apples and bloody oranges here. Edgehog and whatever that take on Looney Tunes was were misguided attempts to make cutesy, colorful, cartoony characters more "radical" in order to pander to "kids nowadays"(tm). It felt stupid. It felt artificial. It made those shows look like this:
SJ started as a relatively serious show, that wasn't afraid to threw in occasional jokes, but didn't stray from darker moments either. It had its "edge"(ah yes, a pun) from the very beginning. Plus, the original creator is involved.

It should be like that, but with black gunk palette swapped to red gunk.

OT: Tell me what you like and i'll find ten other people that'll think it's shit. World wide web is a community of billions, someone will eventually shit on your favorite thing anyway, so the question is: Why should YOU care that stranger on the internet hates the thing you enjoy? In some instances it might be worrying, e.g. when negative reception seriously hinders chances to get a sequel, sure, i give you that, but getting mad about opinions on hobbies? Please...

And no need to apologize to me. Overall, i found your threads entertaining>_>

Heh, I really went and checkmated myself on that one, didn't I?

Really, Alan Moore is probably the single living writer I most admire, both professionally and personally... but I can't agree with him on that point, particularly based on his reasoning. The whole "Batman shouldn't be dark" thing smacks to me simply of nostalgia on his part, because the wacky, zany Batman he claims was so much better just happens to be the one from when he was a kid reading Batman comics.

It's entirely his prerogative not to like his own work, but that doesn't make it bad. It's a solid, very well-constructed story, and as I believe I've said before, I think if one was to replace Batman and the Joker with any stand-in ripoffs, it'd work just as well.

Old and crazy he most certainly is, but he doesn't hate his fans or comics as a medium; it's just the mainstream American comics industry he hates.

Something is going to happen. They just launched a load of ads for an event centered around the 13th Black Crusade and it's veeeeery similar to the hype before The End Times. They won't destroy the universe but I can see them changing the ruleset to be more like AoS.

I'm actually ahead of the curve in that I've NEVER liked The Killing Joke. I started reading comics literally in the middle of the Knightfall arc (The One With Bane Breaking the Bat), so it isn't like I hate a dark Batman. But when I went back and read TKJ, I just didn't like how mean-spirited and rapey the original comic was. And that's coming from a massive fan of Berserk!

As far as Batman vs Superman is concerned, I actually like it. Unlike most people, I've seen it three times now. Once in theaters and twice for The Ultimate Edition. I actually posit that with the R-rated cut, the movie goes from trash to actually a decent Batman and Superman movie. Is it better than/ high art like The Dark Knight trilogy? Nope! But as a Superman movie where Batman IS the villain (something the theatrical cut didn't get across- you're NOT rooting for Batman, he's an anti-villain in this movie who's crossed the line and started murdering), it's way above the grain in being a great comic book movie starring Batman and Superman. It also has the best Batman fight on film, and in the Ultimate Cut it's EXTREMELY brutal. The shot of Batman punching the guy on the ground repeatedly and him crying out in audible pain each time with blood flying up (something not in the theatrical cut- the guy on the ground is mute and there is no blood). So awesome ;)

Now Suicide Squad? THAT sucked.

As far as the other things, I'm not a big Warcraft or Warhammer fellow, in that I'm not a consumer of them in any shape or way (I saw the movie and thought it was a movie...). But with Samurai Jack, that actually cannot be criticized for going darker. For one thing, the cartoon while hamstrung as a childs show, WAS dark to begin with. Secondly, for a show starring a samurai and a eldritch demon, it was very bland. So I AM hoping the new show plays this up and takes off the kiddie gloves.

That I did not care for at all.

OK mabye when they very very FIRST trailer revealed I was interested, but than the second trailer came out with the Queen Song came out, that's when I tuned out. And the last trailer made the mistake of using Ponies:

The movie was dead to me after seeing that one.

Here's how I look at it. To me, being a fan of the show makes you...a fan of the show. A Brony would be someone who is a bit of a step beyond being just a fan of the show. For example, someone who talks about the show at random, or draws fanart of the show, or reviews the show episode by episode.

Which reminds me, I'm really getting behind on my reviews. I think I've only gotten halfway through season 1.
