Same in Britain as well. Bailing out the banks to save the economy has actually just put us in even more debt than before. The idea is correct but much more thought needs to go into it than that.Kukul said:

This sounds suspiciously like the Creative Destruction theory I read about a while back. Basically it says that you have to let the "rotted" giants fall down. Then when all these rotted giants have fallen down you start anew with efficient and well managed companies that are well looked after, and are ecologically sound as well.
While this is of course possible, the sad thing is that for several years there will be mass unemployment. As has been said, these young "sprouts" are not in need of the same amount of employees as these giants were, and it will take many years before they're at that level. And because the USA system, nor any other governmental system, can not manage that much unemployment, nor would it be fair to the citizens of the USA or any other country, this "theory" of how to deal with things has been rather rudely swept aside.
So while you are at the core of things completely correct, when one falls new ones come up, this cannot be allowed due to outside factors, such as people actually being dependent on these rotted giant trees of doom.

Look, I know people are going to shout and throw things at me, but the reason car companies are in so much trouble is because they are trying to sell a product that is increasingly unviable. We ARE running out of oil (for those of you that whine about the price going up, thats why you effin dolts), more and more people every year start driving, which means our already congested roads will get worse, and those new drivers are all skint what with the economy being fucked and all that, and aren't going to buy new cars. Car companies have completely ignored the green issue, particularly in America (global warming is a side issue, please don't quote me on it and start that conversation, I've been there before- all that CO2 will make no impact on a closed environment and I'm an hysterical loony loser who wants to ruin your good time by suggesting otherwise-fine, fine), and their industry is in a shambles because of it.
The problem is that the industrial, free market capitalist age is in its final days, whatever your opinions on it (there just isnt any virgin territory to exploit or new areas of industry to move into, and when you cant move without stepping on someone elses toes, unregulated methods of development become unviable), and no one really has any suggestions about what the next model of society should look like.
When theres no more cookies in the jar, you cant eat cookies, and screaming, stamping your feet and spitting venom at anyone who points out the bare facts won't really change anything.
Cue twat quoting me and mouthing the same eloquent reasonable sounding crap they've been responding to people like me with for the last twenty years or so despite it all crumbling round our ears. Whoever you are, just refrain from putting the word 'sir' at the end of each bullshit statement in an effort to look mature and well informed - it leaves me with an urge to rip your throat out that I cant possible satisfy...
