The ironic thing is about MW2 and the move to remove dedicated servers to fight piracy and mods is that there is a pirated version of the game with patched in (by the pirates) dedicated server support.
Which means that people will download the pirated version in order to get dedicated server support, something only available on the pirated versions of the game. These people wouldn't have pirated the game if the retail version had dedicated server support
Developers need to realize that any customer is a potential pirate and any pirate is a potential customer. They need to try to reward customers and not to disadvantage pirates as it just results in stuff like this.
