I can't bear the waiting! Pre order problems

So I'm sitting here waiting for Assassins Creed 3. AC is my favourite game series bar none. Yeah it kinda went off track with Brotherhood and yes Revelations was fuck all of an improvement and I whole heartedly recommend no one pay full price for that game, but AC 3 seems to be going back to AC 2 roots, and IMO that was the best game of the series. The gameplay was simple, encouraged intelligence and while it didn't have as much information of the grand mysteries of the series like ACB and ACR, playing through 12 years of Ezio's life was something magical, and from the trailers of Connor as a kid in AC 3 it looks like its he's getting the same treatment. Plus we finally get to figure out just what the fuck is going on with The Ones who came before and the pieces of Eden.

But here's the problem- I ordered from Play.com. Fucking Play.com, who are infamous in not delivering on time. I go to them because I trust Play more than Amazon cos Amazon has either been more expensive in the past or outright screwed me with deliveries never coming or it coming broken. I'd much prefer a little longer wait rather than go through the trouble of sending something back or getting a refund. But its suuuuuuuch a loooooong wait. I can't take it. Play says AC 3 is coming in 3-5 days, which means at least 7. This waiting is killing me, as I am one of few people who loves every single aspect of the Assassins Creed story, even the bits that were kind of soft. I love the lore and the history and the characters (to a point, Desmond ain't that bad but meh) and this big fuck off mystery that just makes me squee at every installment.

So the topic at hand, what games have you been unable to bear the wait for, and even worse, games that are out but the pre order takes the piss getting to you.

Also, why not go to your local gamestore? It's where I go to get most of my games!
I already pre ordered it. Funny thing though, I actually have to take back what I said because it came today and my mum was hiding it from me until the end of Merlin. Whoops.

None of my preorders arrive on time. My last preorder was Borderlands 2, and I finally got it two weeks after the release date. It really annoys me that even though I've preordered a game, I get it long after someone who hasn't.

It's not the fault of the people you order from usually, but the delivery service. But I understand how annoying it is.

"Oh no I have to wait an extra few days for a game I know is on its way! Whatever shall I do?!"

You want preorder problems? Try getting Atlus to release P4: Arena in anywhere near a decent time frame. It came out in NA on August 7th (9th?) and we don't even have a release date for it now on November 4th.

Let me just reiterate. The fully functioning, English localised version of Persona 4: Arena is out and being played in NA and has been for awhile. Meanwhile, in Europe... We're waiting for....... Something. There is literally nothing in the game to be worked on at this point. It's practically wrapped and waiting to be delivered right now.

So you can staff a publishing office with howler monkeys it seems. How many times can you say "oh we had publishing problems" before it becomes the most overused failure of an excuse ever? Cuz it's getting there.

Sorry, i'm not trying to insult you or anything. I'm just mad salty baybee :3

Oh and Play.com are swine. They are never on time and one thing didn't even come at all. Amazon has been picture perfect in all of its deliveries and is generally cheaper.

I pre-ordered AC3, in the UK, on Amazon.co.uk, and it arrived on the release day (admittedly it was late on the day but that was thanks to the fucking Royal Mail deciding to leave their deliveries in my local area until the early afternoon instead) with zero problems. I'm eagerly awaiting Halo 4 on Tuesday, also pre-ordered through Amazon.co.uk, and hopefully that should arrive too with zero issues.

Moral of the story? There is none, I just wanted to share my own experiences of online delivery. Unfortunately I can't offer ay more advice since although I have ordered things through both Amazon and Play.com before, I haven't done so enough to have an idea of which is better. Prices do tend to be a bit better through Play.com though (in my personal experience), but if it means waiting longer for your goods to arrive then is a couple of quid (and nothing more) knocked off really worth the wait? That's a choice only you can make for yourself, OP...

I had the opposite problem. I switched from Play to Amazon 3 years back because Amazon was cheaper and had better delivery (especialy once they started Amazon Prime. £50 for a whole year of next day delivery) but I guess it all comes down to luck.

I have already lost interest in playing Persona 4 Arena, thanks to the publishers incompetence. My interest in playing has been butchered and to add insult to injury, the publisher (Zen United) puts up videos of gameplay on their facebook page.
I'm sure I will never completely lose interest in a Persona game, especially a Persona 4 game but... *sigh* I just want my Shabrys dammit... Is that too much to ask Atlus!? Do you not want my money?!

Just look at that for god's sake. So hype. So fucking...Hype. *sigh* hype. T-T

I've never had any problems pre-ordering...it's probably because I'm so awesome!

However, I am finding myself wanting to just say screw it and start downloading The Walking Dead series on the 360 and not getting that sweet sweet collector's edition...I just finished WD Season 2 and am having a huge zombie itch now. Fever gone but itchy. Hungry and eat doggy food. Itchy Itchy Scott came. Ugly face so killed him. Tasty...

*Too easy of a reference to earn a cookie but Kudos if you get it

I actually have this 'problem' except it is in my own favour. My end of year exams are coming up and I don't want Halo 4 to arrive before I do them x_x. I'm getting it from an overseas store so *fingers crossed.*

Well i don't preorder , ever . What i usually do , is get off my lazy ass , get dressed , walk across the street , buy game , and return home and play .

Also , why is it so important to get a game on day one? I never understood this .

That's easy. I preordered Mass Effect 3 Collector's Edition from GAME for a good rice. Then waddaya know GAME and EA have a fallout and GAME aren't allowed to stock EA games anymore, so poof goes my preorder, and that was a week before the game got released. I managed to preorder the standard edition from Amazon since all of the other collector's editions were gone.

PS: You have made a mistake in not trusting Amazon. Preordered AC 3 Join or Die from them and I got it on the 31st at 10 in the morning. Maybe you just had some bad luck.

I normally get my pre-orders from GAME, and I have nothing bad which I can think of to say about their pre-orders most of the time. They almost always arrive a day early, and if they don't the arrive on time. The only problem I've ever had was with ME3 collector's edition which pissed me off to no end.

I tend to pre-order in shops, its just less hassle. I actually lost my receipt for the pre-order for Halo 3, but they have all my details and told me it was OK. I'm not entirely certain if they give pre-order bonuses in HMV though, but they're my only option since GAME shut down.

I use Amazon for most of my pre-orders because they are actually pretty reliable, IMO. Plus they mail to your house, which is good as I cant stand going to Gamestop for any longer than 5 minutes with the asshats that work there.

Gamestop wasnt really that bad employee wise, atleast until most of them left for college or something and they got a bunch of 30 somethings that seem to be the real life version of this guy:

Me neither. Is out generation so terribly impatient and obsessive that we can't even put our minds on something else than the hottest new release for a week? The only 2 games I ever preordered were Diablo 3 and Borderlands 2. The former I preordered only because there was a contest in it to win a kick-ass gaming PC (otherwise I was never very interested in it), and the latter because of the Premium Club and Creature Slaughter Dome bonuses, NEITHER OF WHICH HAVE BTW DOWNLOADED TO THIS DAY GEARBOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think preorders are pretty needless, and only exist to create hype.

Guess what! Persona 4 Golden is getting a release date for Europe!!...for fucking Spring 2013...fuck off...I'm importing it (like anyone with a brain cell will do) and the publishers will wonder why it didn't sell well (I wonder why, could it be releasing a game that has been out for ages?)
I could be totally off about this, but, since you can get it as a digital download, wouldn't it be more than possible to create a PSN account with a North American address to get access to the NA store? That way, you could purchase/download it when it came out on the 20th. I'm fairly certain my friend did the opposite (used an EU address to get access to the EU store), but I suppose it's possible that it wouldn't work due to IP tracking or something like that.

Then again, PS Vita memory cards are expensive, and it's a 3.5 gig download, so, depending on what size card you have, it'll take up quite a chunk of it.

OT: I don't use online retailers for that exact reason. I prefer to pre-order from my local retailer, and then go in on release day to pick it up. I don't trust the internet with credit card information, and I don't really trust delivery services to get it here when they're supposed to, either.
