You know, there is no such thing as bad PR.

The trailer didn't seem too bad, seemed like a psychological horror movie.

Films like this are all about reactions. The stronger the reaction, the better they did their job. I haven't seen it yet but I want to.
What? How does invoking a cheap reaction of shock justify any film, book, game or anything else?
When people want to pay money to see it.

I'm not saying its a good thing for the industry, I'm just saying its a way of getting people talking about it.

[sub]I still want to watch it...[/sub]

You might have a point if this didn't feature "graphic depictions of rape, necrophilia and paedophilia."
Oh you mean like Unforgivable? Hounddog? Necromantic? The August Underground films? The original Last House On The Left/I Spit On Your Grave?
None of this is anything new, buddy.

Frankly, if your being on the internet for a considerable length of time has desensitized you to films that feature the rape of a newborn child, you are going to the wrong websites.
Be that as it may, that still doesn't change the fact that rape, necrophilia and paedophilia happen every single day in this world. Suddenly losing your shit over just one film that depicts them is just naive.

Imagine watching Supersize Me for the first time and thinking to yourself "Holy shit, fast food is bad for me? MY WHOLE LIFE HAS BEEN A LIE!"
I'm not losing my shit over it, and I don't see how anything I've said can seen as that. I'm just giving my thoughts, which aren't completely formed because I've only just heard about the film. And I know that there are films aplenty that feature rape and necrophilia, but this is the first I've heard that features a scene involving the rape of a newborn child.

It's nothing to do with not wanting to accept the reality that bad people do bad things to people who don't deserve it. The implication that people who're offended by this film are like people who're shocked by the revelation that fast food is bad for them is just silly. It's not that I'm pro-censorship or completely against the subject being used (I mean, I own Cannibal Corpse's Tomb Of The Mutilated, which has probably the most offensive song title I've heard of), I'm just not entirely comfortable with the idea of filming a scene that's supposed to depict a child being raped. Largely because, if an actual child is used, it is potentially psychologically damaging to the child. And normally I don't care about the line between art and pornography, but when a child is involved, I start to think it might be an area best left unexplored.

You are all small time.

Check out a book called "120 Days of Sodom". I believe theres a movie out too, though I havent watched it so I cant say how it compares to A Serbian Film. But the book... Holy shit. It puts any other movie, no matter what, and theres some pretty nasty stuff out there, to absolute shame. A Serbian Film is Toy Story in comparison.
Beaten to it, dawg! ^_________^ [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.310317-I-cant-believe-I-am-actually-about-to-talk-about-this-movie?page=2#12543315]

But, yeah, Saló is nothing compared to the book. Which I never finished because it made me feel ill in the first part of the book. It's brutal, but not as brutal as the book.

I've seen alot of weird and disturbing shit in my life. But this movie pretty much takes the cake. This is not art...it's gore porn. Incredibly twisted gore porn.

None of the poll options apply to me. I've watched it and it got no reaction from me other than laughter.

I've heard about this movie before in much greater detail. All that I have to say about this movie is newborn porn. I'll leave it at that.

Jesus, it's sh*t like this that makes me doubt my stance on freedom of expression in art. Sorry people, but that's just not on. And I wasn't really disgusted with the Human Centipede either, at least you could make fun of how ridiculous the whole thing was then, with this... just... ahrrrgahhdwadwdf. I know it's meant to shock, but f*ck me, I feel extremely uncomfortable even thinking about it.

Hey guys, let me quote TVTropes here-

"a woman is killed by having her teeth ripped out, and an erect penis forced down her throat until she suffocates, another scene features a woman being anally raped, only to have her head cut off with a machete, and then have the rapist continue to rape her corpse and even a later scene in which a man rapes a body hidden beneath a sheet, and is joined by a masked man who does the same to another body. The masked man turns out to be the first man's brother, and the masked man's victim is revealed to be the first man's wife, and the victim of the first man turns out to be his own 7-year-old son. These are not the most disturbing scenes in the film."

"The video shows a newborn baby being raped immediately following its birth"

"Brad Jones, who has listed Caligula as his favourite film, and is known to revel in the less-than-savoury offerings of terrible cinema has listed this as the first film he regrets seeing, going so far as to refuse to describe a particularly horrible scene so as to not entice viewers into seeing it out of curiosity, and describing the experience as akin to doing something illegal, as he felt he was going to be arrested just for watching it."

Uhh, well they'd already be on fire so I think one hand washes the other in that respect. Unless that's the joke, in which case I'm an idiot.

It's just a movie. If you don't want to watch it, then don't. This is the kind of stuff this world is made of so just because someone decided to make a movie out of it doesn't mean everyone should freak out.

Also, I wouldn't want to watch it because I have no interest in movies like that.

This reminds me of the movie chaos. I am intrigued by it and would like to see it but as of now have told myself not to. I watched the Human Centipede and enjoyed the horror of it and was looking forward to the sequel until I read about the new doctor and his horrible fetishes. The doc in the first one was just curious and evil, there wasn't anything sexual about it, I liked that creepyness.

I would see this movie except if there is anything with children I wont. I don't want that on my conscious. Amazing how interesting they can make movies seem using some flashy editing in a trailer. Reminded me of Manhunt 1, which was a great game and contained 0 babies.

What are you trying to prove exactly? That because he hasn't watched enough fucked-up films but you apparently have that makes you more intelligent when it comes to this than he is?
Hm... nope. Nothing more than a simple joke there.
Think you're reading a little too much into it.
No need to take that so seriously.
Chill the hell out.

I read the synopsis, and I'm a little shaken by just that. I am not planning on watching this movie. Life is depressing enough without having to sit through films like this.

I understand his point was to draw a parellel between this and the horrors of the Yugoslav wars in Serbia in the 1990's. I wish there was a more artistic way to go about it, perhaps depicting the Yugoslav Wars in a film would be a better and more bearable way to explore these themes without alienating the viewers...souls.

So uninterested in this movie. As soon as they use the "so shocking" etc tag line then i know it will suck. Filming shocking stuff for the sake of it is boring. Its like your a kid and some one is goading you into doing something and calling you a chicken if you dont. Yes this film may be shocking and taboo. But im not gonna waste my time watching it for that reason alone.....if you cut away all the "shock" value, the plot is pathetic.

Also there is no child rape scene, just the insinuation that it is happening behind closed doors. You dont see it......nor would any one want to.
