Looking at your taste, I'd go with Cryptopsy. They're like if Behemoth mixed with SYL. It's OK.
Also, Dark Tranquillity is awesome.

Awww, I wanted to make a joke like that. :(
Yours was better than anything I would have come up with, however much I would try.

EDIT: It appears as if someone has revived my thread and given me a new badge!
I'm back again, and I've checked out quite a few bands these people have kindly suggested. It's going to take me a very long while to check them all out with my limited bandwidth, though. Thank you all in advance!
I've compiled an extensive list from the suggestions these previous posters have so generously given me. It is now midnight and my school starts in eight hours. I'm now off to bed. Good night, and thank you all for your help.

I think this thread will now quietly face the Page 400 Monster. If you have any band suggestions, you can just message me instead of bumping up an old thread. Thanks!

The music I've been listening to is getting, well... I'm getting tired of listening to the same old stuff. Would anyone like to post their suggestions?

I've got a few examples of my favorite metal music here.
-Cradle of Filth
-Dimmu Borgir
-Behemoth
-Gojira
-Strapping Young Lad
-Meshuggah
-Melechesh
-Nile
-Opeth
-Vader
...Pretty much the heavy and the dark stuff, though I'm open to the classics such as Rush and Tesla.

Also, I'd greatly appreciate album recommendations for any band you post.

All metal fans should check this out. Jazz Metal. Give it a try.
Dissection.
Arsis.
Necrophagist.

Turmion Kätilöt? Excellent band!

Also;
Immortal, Venom, Emperor, Beherit, Satyricon and Bathory are good choices if your music taste veers off towards Black Metal and similar music.

Also, anyone heard of KYPCK? A Finnish band that plays doom metal in Russian. Sort of cool music.
Nice to see some good bands in these "metal" forums.

I'm sorry, you mistakenly posted this list in a thread about good current metal bands. I don't have a link for you, but you need to find a thread called "Bands that should die in a fire."

I implore you, if you want to listen to a good current metal band, look up Amon Amarth [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFq2YJKYa-k] before wasting your time with K.E, A7X, CoB, or DragonFarce.

Doom metal you say? Russian? Intriguing! Where can I hear a good sample?
Would you say more in the traditional Candlemass vein, sludgier like Electric Wizard or Crowbar, or funeral doom type stuff?

Dream Theater.
If you're open to music that's more in Rush's direction, Dream Theater.
If you want darker stuff, try the albums Train of Thought and Systematic Chaos. I found Dream Theater a few years back, and they are all the world to me. I feel as if I am not but the dirt beneath their shoes.
But on a serious note: Long songs, my favourites being Octavarium (24:00) and In The Presence Of Enemies (~26:00). They don't nessesarily have many songs per album, their next (June 23rd) will have 6, but they're refined, beautifully written, with great solos and a whole lot of musical aptitude. They are, by far, my favourite band, so I urge all to give them a listen.

I figured you didn't want my opinion, that's why I didn't include you in the quote.
Feel free to go "eat a small kettle" anyway, whatever that means... I just happen to think a lot of that commercial garbage is a poor excuse for what metal is all about.
