And the FaceBook Minion Quotes are the absolute worst. I mean look at this shit!

I despise them because I can't help but see a focus-group designed piece of merchandise engineered specifically to sell as much of itself by its mere presence as possible.

It's literally the worst possible part of post-Star Wars Hollywood concentrated into a small annoying package.

But they don't irritate me nearly as much as the people that defend it. They're on the same level as Disney cultists, which scares me.

I mean where does it end? Will Disney and Dreamworks one day assemble all the Intellectual Property in the world, sail on a sea of money on a golden boat and repaint the Universe as dictated by Big Mouse?

I think "random" humor can be quite funny, but it can't be overdone like with Minions. Everything about them just feels lazy.

I only understand the Minion hate for one reason, they're popular, so people hate them to act cool, which kind of screws the people who actually find them greatly annoying.

Personally I like them, they're amusing little bumbling workers, the kind of thing you'd expect a super villain to keep just out of pity, if not stupidity. Still they're cute, humorous, and irreverent. They're great as comic relief, but I do think making a whole movie about them was a step too far.

I have no real issue with minions, infact I would even go as far as to say I quite like them but then I've not been over exposed to them, in fact their 'exposure' has been limited to times that I've been around my niece or nephew, on the other hand these characters

I can happily hate on how overexposed these guys are, they literally are EVERYWHERE advertising some of the most questionable products related to what they are, Sky broadband? toothbrushes / toothpaste? Really? If I have to look at one more advert that ends with that yellow smiling moron... well rage!

I personally only like them in the context of being the comic relief in the despicable me movies, their over merchandising and crappy movie can just fuck right off.

Though personally the over merchandising has lead me to hate Frozen even more.

I hate to break it to you, OP, but Minions have nothing to do with Dreamworks. They're from Illumination Entertainment, creators of the lovely, if not very faithful, The Lorax film.

Even if one thinks it did suck, it had a great credits song.


Illumination are owned by Universal. They also did the CG work for Hop, which is an underrated film, IMO.

I'm surprised it took so long for the correction. Dreamworks is in financial trouble right now so I bet they wished they came up with the minions.
