I liked the movie... some people obviously don't... if everyone liked the same thing it'd be a pretty boring world... to each their own ...

I think that Saving Pvt. Ryan is a great film, and that so is We Were Soldiers. I saw Apocolpse Now and it was fucking boring and the ending jumped the shark. Platoon is great. I want to see Full Metal Jacket.

Many people think that it's the best war movie but, I have to disagree. It's to much, GAWD BLESS AMERRRICUH and Brothers in Arms. It just isn't how war really is. I prefer war movies like The Hurt Locker. It's how I think that war is really played out (I haven't been to war, I'm only 15 but, I hear a lot of stories). Also, The Hurt Locker don't have a bias approach to war. The Hurt Locker doesn't give reasons why we are fighting the war, it just kind of shows what it's like over there in the Mid East.

Although, it is still fun to see movies like Saving Private Ryan and pretend that every veteran fought in some huge, epic, historical battle that will be in history books until the end of time.

Yeah. Saving Private Ryan wasn't really all that great. I mean, the opening beach landing was f'in amazing. But the rest of the film was rather middling. Though, I suppose that's because Band of Brothers ruined all WW2 films for me for the rest of my life.

Please see that movie. It's one of the greatest war movies you'll see. Also rememeber to see The Hurt Locker. I think that it might still be in theaters. It's probably the best movie about the current War on Terror.

I watched the first part of it at my friend's house and I just became incredibly bored with it. I know it's a classic but I just didn't like it at all. Neither Tom Hanks nor Vin Diesel are very good actors and I found the whole plot of the movie rather unreal.

I guess what I'm saying is, how many of you want to kill me now, and how many of you agree with me?
Seconded, I don't know why everyone loves that film so much. Enemy at the Gates is far better, in my humble opinion.
I diliked Enemy at the Gates. Little too much Deus Ex Machina. Although it did have Ron Perlman, if I recall correctly? That's an instant boost to it's rating :p

As for the topic creator, I like Saving Private Ryan, and you don't. Noone here is going to get angry because you want a fight. Find a different community if you want to flame.

Hrrm. So we're nothing but trained dogs to you, to perform on your command?

Your opinion isn't worth a mummer's fart to me, so you can hate whatever movies you want.

I honestly wasn't a huge fan of the film, but that's more because the plot seemed excessively short and linear. I'm personally fine with Diesel (not great, but fun; this was one of his only "normal" performances) and like Hanks, but w/e.

If you want people to rage at you, don't accept that people could possibly like this film. Deal in absolutes, it's either shit or it isn't. You also can't acknowledge people that could rage at you in your post as it makes them think twice and realise this is what you expect them to do.

Yeah I agree, only the beach landings were any good.

The rest of the film is just over the top emotional to the point it feels forced and too much subtle American patriotism for someone who isn't a citizen.

Personally I think it was an enjoyable movie. Not one i could watch over and over.

I think Tom Hanks is quite a good actor in most of his movies and certainly in Saving Private Ryan. Same for Vin Deisal, he isn't a bad actor overal.

I wouldn't say this is the best war movie ever but deffo in my top 5.

I like saving Private Ryan, but I can?t forgive it for blanking out every other country that participated in the Normandy landings.

I've seen that movie thousands of times (I had to do it for my English Lit in GCSE) and I enjoyed it so have watched it many times since, but...

VIN DIESEL IS IN IT? WHERE?! Wtf...

Ok... I'm pretty sure you're not the only one.

Oh you were trying to get a big shock out of it and spark a discussion?
