I can kind of understand why someone wouldnt like it its long alot of scenes are boring and the rest can rely on the action but its still the most realistic representation of violence i have seen in films

I watched the first part of it at my friend's house and I just became incredibly bored with it. I know it's a classic but I just didn't like it at all. Neither Tom Hanks nor Vin Diesel are very good actors and I found the whole plot of the movie rather unreal.

I found it dull and insulting to my intelligence. If you're aiming for historical accuracy, you could at least get the sides right and have some British troops in there.

And the Team Fortress 2 version was so much better

he was that gi that got sniped about half way through the movie when the squade was trying to save some french people from a german sniper. the guy who had the letter to his dad and the clerk (forgot his name) copied it in the church. ringing any bells.

If it weren't for the first 20 minutes, I'd put it down as one of the most boring films ever to grace filmmaking.

It was so clearly made as one of those pretentious American tearjerking films that tries way too hard, deliberatelly made do win oscars (because a film about war always wins an Oscar by default).
