I didn't care for Portal 2

Yeah, I said it.

The entirety of the first half felt like a rehash of the test sequences from the first Portal, which was made worse by the agonizingly frequent load screens - especially egregious since the first tests are the easiest and go by faster than any other.

The second half seemed to wobble between tedium and frustration for me. If the puzzle wasn't painfully obvious in its solution, then it was so difficult to the point that it eeked out curse words from me - a rarity.

The writing was especially witty but that in and of itself made it hard to like any of the characters. Glados' snide remarks and constant belittling commentary got on my nerves even faster than in Portal. Wheatley's sheer stupidity rapidly went from amusing to head-bashingly annoying.

I found it very hard to commit to liking the game and those parts I do like have rapidly become tarnished by the constant use of the game as meme fodder.

I heard the writer hated the "Cake Is A Lie" line for spawning that meme such that he refused to put it in Portal 2. I cannot blame him.

I didn't HATE the game. I just never want to look at it again.
You sir, pretty much sum up my opinion of Portal 2.

I would play it again, but hardly enjoy it as much as the first one.

Of course you didn't care for it. That is most likely because are entitled to your own opinion and, as with all big games (especially sequels to such hugely popular ones - see Dragon Age II, Modern Warfare II, Mass Effect II, Fallout: 3/New Vegas) there will always be a more... shall we say 'vocal'? minority of fans who didn't like it. I personally thought it was an excellent game but, for some reason, people appear to be unable to praise a game and would much rather focus on the negative points and thus ruin their overall view of the game. I will admit that agree with some of your points about, such as the load screens (which REALLY weren't THAT bad), but I didn't let petty complaints ruin my opinion about the game. Just because it isn't perfect, does not mean that you aren't allowed to like it.

Thank you for your civil and reasonable response. I do find that I have a tendency to dislike high-profile games, perhaps as a form of Hype Backlash. I was hoping to find discussion with people of similar opinion or those of the opposite opinion who wished to discuss why they liked the game. For me, the flaws I listed were just too much. I didn't hate the game, not by a long shot, but I have to say it was a far cry from what I was told to expect.

Perhaps you shouldn't let other people's opinions influence you so much? Also, I understand that perhaps you were trying to have a genuine discussion but you approached it like a Troll and thus were treated as one.

So many threads popping up of people thinking others care about their oppinions. This is just like HL2 and Dragon Age 2.

SO what? Why do you need to "scream" it out. You have an opinion. Gz. I have also an opinion. I loved Portal 2, but I think I wont be playing it again, since it doesn't have much to replay. I might try the co-op in some point.

But the ending was lol's!!! And the game was extremely well done, beautiful landscapes, extremely nice textures, good writing and extremely good voice acting. But not much to play again.

One of the things I knew would be in the game before I picked it up was that the first chambers would be ridiculously easy, and tutorial-like. I thought the whole echoing portal 1's first levels was a nice touch, connecting the games.

For me, I didn't find any of the chambers annoying - in Portal 1 I ended up resorting to a walkthrough once or twice, Portal 2 I didn't. From the people I've spoken to, most found the second game easier.

If a game's popular, there will be memes.... whatever. For me, I find it pretty easy to avoid meme stuff - most forum threads featuring it are usually obvious from the title... hence easy to not click on.

If you do the commentary, you'll find they actually made GLaDoS nicer than they originally planned. I thought they struck a good balance with that, but then again, that's a thing for personal taste imo.

All in all, I think most of your issues are personal taste things, rather than actual flaws in the game.

This thread is now about moths.

On topic, I absolutely loved Portal and Portal 2, but even I got a tad skeeved at the loading times. Not that I'm impatient per se, I just hate elevators being used as loading areas after playing Mass Effect.

This is my definition of hate. I'm pretty sure you hate the game if you never want to lay eyes on it again.

No need to justify your likings, it's absolutely OK to not care about every AAA title. Stick to the games you like.

I found 'Portal 2' to be surperior to the first in every way. Didn't get where 'Portal' was supposed to be funny, the second one got me just because of Stephen Merchant's amazing job and the writing. Yeah, I'm a sucker for this kind of sarcasm.

He didn't care for Portal 2, but cared enough to post that he doesn't care.
That's ok though, you do have a valid point of the first part being a rehash but I don't view it as something "wrong" or "bad" personally. It's a huge "bow" towards the fanbase and the way it was written was great for new players of Portal 2 as well. While that entry part of the gameplay didn't feel really rewarding but I didn't care - I was too busy listening to Weathley. It's a-OK though, as others said it, its fine to have an opinion of your own.

I couldn't care less about wether you cared for it or not, and neither does anyone else, so it would be very much appreciated if you (and others, of course) would not make a habit out of "I didn't like X" threads just to show how different you are from the sheeple.

Thank you.

Well, I went into this thread understanding that it was supposed to be even better than the last one like it but I must say I was sorely disappointed. In a sound mind I suppose nobody would care that I didn't like a thread that so many other people loved but in my own twisted little ego, I feel you all should know that I think this thread is hugely over-rated.

Dumping on this thread is the only way I feel I can stand out from the crowd and celebrate myself as an individual. Also, just so you know, if you disagree with my review of this thread, I'll automatically label you as a sheep for liking something so many other people like.

Congratulations on having an opinion, I knew you'd realize it eventually.

Single player was not impressive, and I agree with the load times, but have you tried co-op yet? Incredibly hard, and I spent a ot of time on it.

If this was a review then people might care, but this isn't. We honestly do not need a thread stating you don't like a game.

Nobody cares.

This goes for anybody talking about any game.

If on the other hand, you created a discussion point for why you disliked Portal 2 and whether or not others agreed on the reasons for why you disliked certain aspects, that is another matter entirely. The fact that you asked no questions, gave no hint that you wanted us to discuss our opinions on the game, or gave any room for discussion beyond two or three words "I agree" or "I do not agree", I can only assume you made this thread to gain some attention.
