That part is true, if the tutorial is optional very few would do them.Doom-Slayer said:Am I the only person that doesnt understand this? it loads after each chamber, why? As far as I understand the engine used has been changed up a whole lot so this is sort of a beta and...agonizing? My max load time was 7 seconds....7 SECONDS..I COUNTED...we really must be impatient these days..StarCecil said:agonizingly frequent load screens
Um...hate to break it to you..but Glados is a snide AI..she hates you. Since you know..you killed her? And Wheatly is an idiot..he was designed to be that way..this was made very clear..And just to check..you think the writing was very witty, but you dont accept it as wit because the remarks annoy you..I..I dont understandStarCecil said:The writing was especially witty but that in and of itself made it hard to like any of the characters. Glados' snide remarks and constant belittling commentary got on my nerves even faster than in Portal. Wheatley's sheer stupidity rapidly went from amusing to head-bashingly annoying.
Also you say you found it tedious at some points, but frustrating at some?. How in the world can something wobble between, repetitive and too hard?
Doom-Slayer said:Maybe you dont realize but..all games have tutorials in the intro now. They do that because if they are an optional thing, nobody does them( even newbies) then they get frustrated when they dont understand. The starting chambers HAVE to be very easy..Valve cant just presume "oh..eveeeeryones played Portal 1, everyone knows how this works" and throw you straight in, they have to cater for everyone.StarCecil said:I've played the original Portal. I didn't need the handholding. It was neat to see the facility in such a state of disrepair, but the almost condescending ease with which the tutorial is presented.
I agree with you on that. You are entitled to your opinion of a game, and just because it's mainstream doesn't mean it's bad. I myself haven't play the games you listed, but I did play the Portal games and loved the puzzles and how you really need to focus to get through them. I liked that you had to think differently to solve some of the harder puzzles.Chechosaurus said:Of course you didn't care for it. That is most likely because are entitled to your own opinion and, as with all big games (especially sequels to such hugely popular ones - see Dragon Age II, Modern Warfare II, Mass Effect II, Fallout: 3/New Vegas) there will always be a more... shall we say 'vocal'? minority of fans who didn't like it. I personally thought it was an excellent game but, for some reason, people appear to be unable to praise a game and would much rather focus on the negative points and thus ruin their overall view of the game. I will admit that agree with some of your points about, such as the load screens (which REALLY weren't THAT bad), but I didn't let petty complaints ruin my opinion about the game. Just because it isn't perfect, does not mean that you aren't allowed to like it.
That I fully agree with. Your entitled to your opinion, but when you post why you don't like it, it's not to say you didn't like the game. You just wanted to rile people up and see how they react.Bobbity said:TROLL. Can't blame the OP really, =)Bobbity said:TROLL. Not because you didn't like the game - fair enough - but because you felt compelled to post this, knowing full well the response you'd get.![]()
I'll happily contribute when we're talking about something worthwhile, but not when all the OP is doing is making sure that his negative opinion is heard, because it's so gosh darn important. We do not[b/] need an entire thread for one person to express their dislike of a game. It's pointless at best, and serves as flamebait at worst.Wondermint13 said:Can't blame the OP really,Bobbity said:TROLL. Escapists are a predictable bunch... So many of these DIVINE DEFENDERS lurking in the shadows waiting for somebody to express an opinion so they can bombard it with their 'witty' comments and off topic flame.
So much the community spirit eh guys?
You keep on contributing your negative opinions on other people's beliefs instead of the topic threads and hopefuly together we'll create a friendly and welcoming forum for everyone who wants to share how they feel..
Honestly, people who feel the need to point out how wrong or strongly opinionated others are is probably more petty than somebody starting a thread on something they wanted to share.

I don't think people are 'lurking in the shadows'. Nobody's pretending the OP isn't entitled to have an opinion. Most people are just pointing out that they don't actually have any reason to be interested in what StarCecil from the Internet thought of Portal 2.Wondermint13 said:Can't blame the OP really, =)Bobbity said:TROLL. Yet you cared just enough to post.Ekonk said:I couldn't care less about wether you cared for it or not, and neither does anyone else, so it would be very much appreciated if you (and others, of course) would not make a habit out of "I didn't like X" threads just to show how different you are from the sheeple.
Thank you.
Oh, it wasn't that I got flustered. It just got so darn annoying. It was quite literally like hanging out with a bunch of sarcastic teenagers. It was certainly amusing at first, but by the end of the game I wanted them to just stop speaking more than anything.BoogieManFL said:I enjoyed it overall. I dunno, it seems like if those things bothered you that much then you need to relax because it really wasn't that bad to cause such a negative response. If the remarks they made to you got you that flustered then yeah.. Seriously take it easy.
And this isn't a game for people who hate puzzles or don't have good patience. Also if you're not comfortable with first person games that could definitely make it more difficult. I got stumped for a bit in maybe 3 or 4 levels and I got mildly frustrated twice. Overall I'd rate the games average difficulty about a 6.5 out of 10.
This is exactly what's going to happen, and you know it. I think you should keep a wall in reaching distance, your head will want to meet it pretty often from now on.Sp3ratus said:I agree and seriously, is this going to be the new Half-life 2, with several threads popping up every single week with people not understanding the appeal of Portal 2? I really, really don't hope so.tjdwo09 said:Soo...you want us to congratulate you on having an opinion?
It was an enjoyable game, too bad you didn't like it, but what is it you want with this thread, that people try to convince you otherwise?
Yeah. If he had done it some kind of a review, that's cool, but it's written like he wants a clap and some crumbs because he had his own thoughts on the quality of a game; quality being one of the most infinitely subjective aspects of a video game.tjdwo09 said:Soo...you want us to congratulate you on having an opinion?
The CO-OP was fun, but mostly because I was getting the chance to play a game cooperatively with my younger brother. Unfortunately it has zero replay value. If we were to play it again we'd already know all the solutions and would probably start getting pissed at each other for either not solving the puzzle quick enough or for solving it too quickly to keep up.FallenTraveler said:Well that's too bad...
I enjoyed it, I LOVE THE CO OP!!!!! but the single player is a bit slower/tedious than I wanted... I really didn't like the omission of skill/twitchy puzzles... like the falling platform thing in the first game
