I didn't know what to do with my Tinderboxes when I first played Amnesia: The Dark Descent. I just assumed I had to collect them to get something special at the end, so yeah...

It took me until new game++ to realize you can save solaire and engage in jolly co-operation for the Gwyn fight. I feel really bad about letting him go hollow...
Since you have to invest 30 humanity in a covenant that appears to have nothing to do with him, and kill some apparently harmless critters, it is a touch obscure. It's unlikely that you would stumble upon it without knowing. A friend of mine told me how to get back to the asylum, I know a lot of people who never got there, and therefore wouldn't be able to get to the painted world. While I love the game, it gives very few clues for its secrets.

"A guy walked up to me and said 'I'm a teepee, I'm a wigwam, I'm a teepee, I'm a wigwam!' and I said 'Relax man, you're two tents!'"

A Teepee and a Wigwam are types of tents. It's a play on words, subconsciously you are meant to assume he's saying "too tense" at the end there.

Yeah, I played Red Dead Redemption all the way through and when I went back to complete every nook and cranny, a friend asked me, "Why are you riding your horse from Mexico to Texas and vice-versa?" My response, "Because there's no fucking taxis to hail!" Then without missing a beat, "You do realize you can make waypoints and travel to them from campsites, right?"

Long ago my friend lend me Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory with "omgz this is liek da best game evar, my favourite level is bank, try doing it 100%". I beat about 3/4 of the game before we meet again.
Him: "How's the game? Where are you?"
Me: "It's decent, I guess, little easy though, I'm here(somwhere in the game)"
H: "Only decent?! You bas... how was the bank, did you beat 100%"
M: "No, I've got 95%, I don't know how to bypass last laser that turns on the alarm."
H: "What laser?"
M: "Oh you know, in the valut, after you take money it appears in the door. I can't jump over it, can't roll under it, can't find a switch for it."
H: "Why didn't you just turn it off?"
M: "How? I just told, I can't find switch for it."
H: "I mean with your gun."
M: "Why would shooting it switch it off?"
H: "Shooting it? You can just switch it off for a short period of time like other electric things."
M: "I can what?"
H: "... You do now that if you press rmb you disrupt electronic device you're pointing at, right?"
M: "What?"
H: "You beat 3/4 of the game without using this function and you say it's an easy game?!"
M: "Well, but it is."
H: "I hate you."

His reaction was hilarious, but yeah I didn't realize I had the ability to switch off electronic devices. Pretty major funstion too...
Really? You can do that? I hauled a guard over there to deactivate it.

I'm going to guess half the grinding was in the train graveyard before the pillar fight with Reno? That took me forever. Also, in a recent playthrough, I found out A)the Red Dragon in the Temple of the Ancients dies from one Meteorain, when before I must have replayed it about 50 times, and B)you can skip limit breaks by fulfilling requirements for the advanced one (ie get the "80 kills" one before the "use previous 8 times" one). I'm still wondering if skipping lets you learn the final "item" limit break or if you really need them all.

Also, a tidbit (not sure if actually true) from a gaming forum or something: Safer Sephiroth gets an extra 10,000 hp every time you use Knights of the Round inside the crater dungeon.
Nah, I got stuck on Wall Market both times you have to go through there, not having the slightest idea what to do and all. I eventually got past it just by talking to everyone over and over again. Countless Vices, Whole Eaters and Hell Houses were killed in the process.

Like mentioned above, you need all six limit breaks before you can learn the last one; however, the Sephiroth thing is actually true. Kinda. He gets an 80,000 HP bonus if you use KotR on Jenova before you fight him, and an additional 30,000 HP and some other extra stats for each character in your party at level 99. He can go from as low as 80,000 max HP to as high as 400,000 max HP. I have no idea how this "every time you use KotR in the Crater" rumor got started though.
1)It was that stupid wooden bridge that messed me up the first time - the downside for pre-rendered backgrounds is no depth perception

2)I'll have to remember that: he's too easy.
