Not a weapon, but the helmets and extra armors in Mass Effect 2. Lot's of great bonuses, but they always cover the face and it breaks the immersion in half.
Ach! Ninja'd.

OT: This. Most of helemts make you look like a complete fool. And really ruins the cutscenes. Bonuses? Fuck that! If i can't look good while I biotic charge someone then i don't do it at all.

The Romulus armour in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood.
I thought the robes from the end of the second one looked silly, but the Romulus armour was such a joke, I went an unlocked the Altair's Armour skin.

When they replace a cool cloak with an outfit that looks like Ezio dressed up as Little Red Riding Hood, you know they screwed up.

Glad to see I'm not alone on this one. That is NOT what an assassin wears, dammit!

Has anyone ever had that before, i know i certainly have. I was playing Hitman Blood money the other day (I love Hitman) and one weapon when fully upgraded looks looks like a mountainous turd, specifically the M4, the weapons was really powerful, silent, and a lot of other good things but it was ******* ugly and i could not bare to use it so i took all the upgrades off and played like that. I know its petty but i cannot look at and ugly _________ when i am playing a game.

Have you ever had something like that be it Pokemon/Guns/Armor Etc or is it just me?
In hitman i only ever used the Silent Silver Baller, the fiber wire or the Silent WA2000. i never liked the assault rifles because they were too hard to get around with, without being spotted.

In shooters I will continue to use dual pistols even when I have a gun that shoots lightning and shurikens simply because I think dual pistols looks really cool.

Gotta agree with this too. I just can't get used to walking around all the time with a chunky helmet, despite the bonouses. It's most noticeable in the frequent conversations; it just doesn't look natural and makes me feel disconnected.

Same for pretty much every RPG actually. I'll favour stats, of course, but cosmetics has a clear veto power in pretty much every scenario, so long as the stats difference isn't massive. They're about immersion, and I'm not about to compromise that for a small boost under-the-hood.

Exact opposite, as soon as I had a chance I strapped on a helmet on my Male Shephard my first playthrough, I hate how they designed his face. On the flipside, I had FemShep not wear a fully-masking helmet.

OT: Half of the gear I got while leveling in WoW when I use to play.

That silly blue bubble capacitor (or whatever) helmet does some cool stuff, but I can't bear to look at it without bursting out laughing :p.
Exactly. And it just get's funnier when you meet Liara while wearing it.
Oh dear god, I will never forget the time I somehow kissed Liara through my helmet. You'd think Bioware would add in an animation where I took my full-face helmet off, but no...
I didn't take off my helmet when drinking either. And I became a stumbling drink somehow as a result of splashing booze on my armor.

God, Shepard is a lightweight.

I do the same as ME2 and KotOR within reason. Actually I it in real life too, when we're practicing doing Urban operations, I purposely wear more cool looking shit despite it adding a substantial amount of weight so that when you get that one friend who comes around and takes photos you look like a badass, and that's why I volunteer for the GLA :)

In resistance 2 i'd always use the pistol even if it failed all because i always told my friends 'its cool to blow someone up with a pistol'

In Mass Effect 2 I'd try to pick armor that was bad ass, opposed to armor that was helpful (like the pants [I guess] that gave you extra health. They look to bulky)

As alot of people are saying, most of the armour in Mass Effect 2, first hour or so of playing I was like oh I'll wear this here collector armour. Then Tali was like "Shepard?" though my beetle mask so I was like oh ok, fuck this.

Literally the only helmet that looks good is the visor, which thankfully looks pretty awesome, imo. And you get to be visor buddies with Garrus.

Also, sorta related I guess, throughout Pokemon Heart Gold I never evolved my Growlithe into Arcanine purely because Growlite is so damned adorable. I only really started paying for it towards the latter half of Kanto when she would always get OHKO'd so the rest of my team was upwards of 10 levels higher.

I mostly do this in RPGs. Better defense and some magic properties that I really, really need? Purple and pink with a huge heart in the center? No thanks.

I am playing a game, not being a fashion guru! I am surprised how vain you lot are!

If I find a clown suit or a bright pink suit of armour and it has kick ass stats, you better believe I am making my guy look a muppet.

If you could see how my Alister looks in DA:O at the moment you would think I was blind, I will try and describe it. A copper coloured suit of metal armour and a dwarven helmet that makes his head look really square but it beat his old gear so he is wearing it.

Why make the game harder to look better, when you can make it easy and have a little giggle at how daft they look?
