Almost everyone's been there, you walk into school/ work/ college, and nearly EVERYONE'S talking about it, some amazing TV show, movie or game, they ask if you've seen it so that they can talk about their favourite parts to you, you say no, and they leave you alone.

The rest of the day they won't shut up about it, so after you get home, you decide to sit down and watch/ play it, to see what the fuss is about.

After it's finished you just sit there and say to yourself "I don't get it".

Why is it so popular?

So I'm asking, what popular things that everyone else seems to like do you just not understand the appeal of?

P.S. For the record my things would be The Goonies, The Goodies or Big Brother.

American Idol, Survivor and Dancing with the Stars. Why do people think talking about garbage shows all day long is good conversation? I refuse to watch these things sheerly out of spite, and also having seen a few episodes and barely able to contain the vomit from spewing out of my mouth.

The Office... for that matter anything Steve Carell is in. I'm just not a big fan of his style of comedy, it doesn't make me laugh at all.

How can you not love The Goodies?

Goodies.....Goodie-Goodie Yum Yum.
Before some peoples generation. Movie was great back in the day. I wanted to be the little asian kid who invented stuff lol.
...You're thinking of The Goonies. The Goodies is a sketch show.

But I agree that The Goonies is fucking awesome. I think if you grew up around the time when Spielberg wasn't busy raping his old films you'd understand a bit more. The early 90's were a time when you thought adventures like that really could happen. Then it turned out the best adventure you could find was climbing a tree...

The In-Betweeners and the Mighty Boosh.

Both of them are shit, and I have come to the conclusion that the reason they are so popular is that half the country have about three brain cells between them.
The Inbetweeners has some great moments, but it's probably because, as a teenager, It's the kind of stuff people I know would do / say (ie. Buswanker / OAPaedo). The Mighty Boosh is half an hour of wtf?.

Personally I don't get The Big Bang Theory. It's just awful, I gave it 2 episodes to grow on me and I didn't laugh once. It was just boring.

I never really got the whole "emo" movement. Why do I need to listen to music that tells me how much life sucks when I can just turn on the news? Music is my escape from all that, I don't need it to be sounding off the same way the news does. The only other one would be reality television, never did understand the appeal of it.

Exactly this. Conversly though, I decided I'd give it a go, aside from the cutting part...for most that is a misconception but for the few who decide you've gotta be self-harming to be an emo...whatever. I tried it...it sucked, I was bored. Then I got back into my games again and have never been happier. Emo is overrated.

American Idol is something I don't understand at all. Although, I did see that show that tried to find the *worst* people possible, and that was brilliant.

Anything that basically involves watching celebrities doing something other than the talent that they are generally "celebrated" for is an alien phenomenon to me.

The reason is people are mostly retarded and will like anything which appeals to their self-absorbed interests. Either that or because it is so 'fuckin badass!! lol!'.

One thing I agree with most people on though is that The Wire is the best thing on TV in a long long time.
