Hey first topic here but I need some advice. well today has been a really bad day for me today... I found out that my girlfreind who I have been dating for 8 months cheated on me with my freind. She says he forced her to do it but I dont know if I can trust her. On one hand if she cheated on me willingly than I would break up with her. But If its not her fault, how can I punish her for what she didn't do? My best freind (not the guy who cheated) says shes lying.

Im just really confused and I need an outsiders opinion. Should I trust my freind or my Girlfreind?

You can't force someone to cheat on their spouse unless they commit a criminal act like blackmail or rape. So either she's lieing or your friend is a serious felon.

I highly doubt that he can make her cheat on you. If he did, that's rape and it's also illegal. I wouldn't trust your friend or your girlfriend. Obviously neither of them want to admit that they did something wrong.

Plus, it's only 8 months.

Ohhhh. This is a diffcult situation....ummmm, does what she say honestly sound like your friend? Would he be the type of person who go to his friends girlfriend of 8 months and then force her to cheat on you?

There is something sketchy about that sort of stuff and usally people will tend to cover their trails when intimidated. I'd go with your friend.

Well it's either rape or it's not. From what you've said it doesn't seem to come across as rape. If she's prepared to talk to the police about it then it might be believable.

By the way, do you mean your best friend says she's lying about cheating or lying about being forced into it? Just checking.

Without more information, it's not really possible to tell you who to believe. How close are you with each of them? Have there been any incidents like this in the past? If there have been incidents, who was involved, your friend or girlfriend?

I would suggest sitting down with both of them and talking it over with them. See where discrepancies occur in their story, and then make your mind up based on what you hear.

EDIT: Wait, she said that she was forced? That would be rape. Get her to go to the police if that is what she honestly believes. If she won't, then you'll have to believe your friend. In that case, he shouldn't be your friend any more.

I wouldn't believe her for one big reason. If, in reality, he "forced" her, she would be screaming rape because that's what it would be. If your buddy did rape her, he would be in deep trouble, and it would be a big mess. So unless she's finding a lawyer and throwing the book at him, she's definitely lying.

Most likely your buddy is telling the truth.

How long had it been since the incident? (the time between it happening and you finding out) It would help with our opinions really.

Wait a week while pressuring her to file rape charges. If she seems apprehensive she is probably lying and you should dump em both. (At the end of the day your friend screwed you over and you should dump him no matter who is telling the truth.) If she does and her case isn't eviscerated in a court of law then you can keep her but it will still probably be... awkward.
