The best games are usually a "Love or hate" thing, I am also not very fond of Half-life but I can see what other people see in it, the trick is to recognize the quality and move on if it doesn't appeal to you.

I don't like Half Life either. Never understood why people hailed it as something divine and holy.

In regards to the underlined, those are true words of wisdom. Millions of internet flamewars could be avoided if people could recognize that while the game isn't for them, it clearly has an appeal to someone else and does something right.

@OP: I'll be honest, I never really got into the Zelda series. Good game mechanics and all but I just couldn't get interested enough to play much.

Anything that runs on a console (never owned one). So all the console-exclusive stuff that's being hailed as awesome: Halo, Uncharted, God of War, etc. I've had people say they -pity me- because I've never played Final Fantasy, as if I've missed the touch of the almighty lord and the salvation of my soul for it.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

It isn't horrible or anything, but it just felt very lifeless and uninteresting, as well as lacking proper immersion.
I might give it another try one day. (Also, I am one of the people who loved Fallout 3.)

...Wow. You sound like an amazing friend.

Then again, so do they, for playing a game they know one of them doesn't like rather than finding something else to do.

OT: I would say Half-life 2, but I'm about to give that another chance (and its episodes) so...

KOTOR. Evidently didn't age well (especially the combat), and turned me off it shortly into it. If only I'd been the age I am now back then...

Oblivion, for it's terrible leveling, mediocre combat, interaction minigame, Getting arrested for "stealing litter", and bugs that literally made a side-quest impossible as one NPC got stuck in a house door, and at one point turned the town into scarecrow people.
Not a fan of the game to be honest!

Minecraft was just the most tedious game I'd ever played. Okay, I get how it can be fun...but it's just not for me.

BlOPs, and this is coming from a CoD fan. It just wasn't doing it for me. Though it did convince me to reinstall CoD4, and that's always nice. Thanks BlOPs!

...Pokemon. Okay, again, I get the appeal, but...it's just too damn tedious. I just can't stand the grinding like I could when I was a kid. And I know they keep adding things...but the core game is still the exact same thing it's always been.

yea, on second thought, I'm just gonna say JRPGs in general. I don't know what happened, I loved em when I was younger, but now I just can't stand em.

what's the game that you just don't get along with despite the general consensus labelling it as awesome?
EVERYTHING!!!
Umm

Halo
CoD
RockBand/Guitar Hero

Anything Mario that came after Mario 64 and is on a cosole (meaning the gameboy ones were still good) and isn't paper mario/paper mario and the 1000 year door

Pokemon
Zelda (I liked MM, OoT, the original, Oracle of Seasons, and Zelda 2 was my favorite (yay difficulty!))

WoW
...hold on my brain died... let me make this list short

Any Shooter where your health comes back (monday night combat being the one exception I've found)
75% of nintendo games
games where you PRETEND to play instruments
any game that charges you a monthly fee

EDIT: Most racing games (I like F-Zero a LOT... that's about it)
games that claim to be "scary" but aren't (however I had fun with dead space but it wasn't scary at all)

...and minecraft somewhat... I'm slowly starting to "like" it... by "like" I mean play it when I'm bored and have nothing else to do... but I do NOT see it as scary, and I do not really LIKE the game like everyone else seems to

Also I didn't like portal... it was too short (understandably), WAAAY too easy, and I just find games boring when I can beat them from start to finish in one sitting without dieing once...

I can't stand any Call of Duty. How can people justify buying the exact same f**king thing every year. I've played each COD except fo three, and I can't understand the obsession.

Bethesda games as well. It's not that they're bad or anythong, it's just that I'd prefer a small bit more direction when I'm booted into the big wide world. Obivion is beautiful and great fun but I just get overwhelmed by the game, especially leaving the prison and stepping into Cyrrodil for the first time, and thinking "Hmmm I better ask these friendly looking chara.. Oh crap they're bandits"

I loved the originals. But I actually don't quite understand why so many people like the newer series.
Unfortunately I think its simply that years of unoriginal games have lowered expectations, having said that I don't think FO3 is a bad game at all, it just could of been so much better if it had the flavour of the original series.
I don't like the sound of that at all :(. I bore easily, and if this is the way gaming is turning out as time wears on, then I'm probably not going to be gaming for much longer.

Maybe I'm just growing up -_-. Who knows, maybe someday we'll be blessed by a truly original and fantastic game to reinvigorate our love for games D:

To be honest, I would suck it up and play with them anyway, because there are four of us in the group and I take it that's the ideal number of Halo players, but they make fun of me because I suck at it and I get bored as hell just watching. I often try and entertain myself while I wait for them to be done, but they can go at it for hours. One can only shoot cans with a pellet gun for so long before one feels like going into a boredom coma.

They aren't bad people, either. They've been dragged to enough conventions and events that I know for sure they care about me. We all seem to have ADD or something that otherwise hinders our social lives, so we can be selfish or defensive at times, but we all love each other and care honestly about each others happiness. We're a communist, a fantasy artist, an underachiever, and a socially inept Whovian. We don't have much except each other.

Team Fortress 2...I just...don't get the appeal. It feels very kitschy, and I know it's supposed to be that way and all tongue-in-cheek and witty...but I think it's just dumb. And every time I've tried to play a game, it's less of a firefight and more of a trade bazaar ("I need *such and such material* for this hat/accessory lolz! Hu want to trade?"). That and the fanbas is MILITANT in its defense of the game. I like Battlefield Bad Company 2, CS: Source, and the like...but I'm willing to admit that the game has shortcomings; however, many of my TF2 loving friends REFUSE to accept that there is ANYTHING wrong with the game. By doing that, they almost lower themselves to the level of "bro gamers" and their mindless defense of Madden, Halo, and CoD.

I'm getting to be the same way with Fallout. Used to love it, but then I got into the realm of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and just found it profoundly more satisfying of a post-apocalyptic (-esque) FPSRPG.

Can't say I care for the Half Life series either, I've tried you get into the 2nd about 3 times and always get bored and lose interest, I've tried both episodes and got bored of them too. I just dunno why, I don't feel it, everyone raves about the story yet from what I could tell it was non-existent, I couldn't see it anyways.

I can't get into Uncharted; I think it's a meh shooter trying to be funny in an Indiana Jonesy way. Also, Drake's a douche.

I'm with you. I played through Half-Life 2 once, just so that I can say I did it, but I won't play it again. It's not that it's a bad game, just not my style. I like to have well thought-out characters, or at least a main character who speaks in cutscenes. I don't like the mute-ness of Gordon Freeman, at all.

Besides, Half Life is a good game, but it's showing it's age. It's not that special any more, it was just the first.

Dragon Age (tho, I MIGHT try the 3rd one)
Mass Effect
Fallout
meh FPS in general...

Based on beta, I don't get the whole Rift fascination, either. Waiting for it to crash and burn like WAR did (tho, I personally enjoyed WAR until it was rush-released almost completely broken), especially since the Rift community is such snobbish c**ts.

Oddly enough, my GF LOVES ME and DA. I'm not sure how we've managed to remain civil. :B
