Soo... RTS', bland shooters and a generic RPG? wow christmas has come early! I'll just be sitting playing the thousands of creative and amazing games people have made on LBP then maybe play some Red dead multiplayer, maybe some god of war, then when my friends come round we'll play splitscreen (Remember that?) on modnation racers
LBP... ahaha.

just askin, how does one set crysis 2 graphics to "high-ish" when there are only three options?
This helps! http://www.incrysis.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=33008

OT: One thing I love about PC games is the ability to configure my own stuff. For example: in most FPS games I turn motion blur off because I don't like it. The same goes for bloom or flare outs, sometimes even depth of field.

I'm not saying everyone should learn to do stuff like that, or that it's even necessary, but it's a nice advantage to pc gaming.

Of course I do like consoles for something else: split screen racing games or fighting games are amazing on a ps3 or 360, and so are band games.

So everything has it's pros and cons. I just happen to like PC gaming's pros more.
(but I strongly disagree on it being more expensive)

Right because downloading the few mods worth having for a game is the same as having thousands of creative, colourful, unique and inventive levels right there at your fingertips ready to play at any time

Have you ever played any of those games? If no, then how in the name of flying goats would you know if they were bland or generic?
I forgot you can't form an opinion on something before purchasing it. Silly me!

For me its the fact that you dont have to keep every old pc to be able to play older games. I dont want to collect consoles just so I can play games like LIMBO or Red Dead Redemption, if they were on pc i wouldn't have that problem, they're usually the chance of emulation as well of older titles on other platforms.

It's future proof, that's why I prefer it, I couldn't care less about having more anti-aliasing than consoles (even though better looking games is a plus)

Better Graphics
Better Controls
MODS

I have no problems with consoles though except for the whole, exclusive to console crap some games get ( this is even more annoying when said game series originated on the pc ).

PC gamers feel the need to look down to console gamers and act superior because they are constantly being sodomized by the industry, if you're a pc gamer you're treated like a criminal and blamed for the rise in piracy cause duh only pc games are pirated (big amount of bullshit right there since console games are pirated just as much if not more and are even leaked earlier), you don't get a lot of games or you get them later and its all because of consoles and their exclusive deals, so ye .. that's why they feel a bit bitter.

Actually, it's "an old school style RPG, a survivalist shooter, a hybrid TBS/RTT franchise, a TBS and a military simulator"... which all sound better to me than the games you listed. It's that whole personal preference thing.

PC has upgradable hardware, doesn't need to be replaced as frequently as consoles, has mods easily available and so much more.

And I'm a console gamer.

Fine if you're going into specifics then LBP is a shooter, horror, fps, rts, platformer, puzzler, racer
But you are completely right it is all about personal preference, and I'm just expressing my preference as are you guys

I just upgrade when I have to, and I had no real reason to upgrade last year since it was still good enough. Although I'm planning on upgrading it soon when I have the money for it.

thousands? we are talking about user generated content right?
i mean, i haven't actually played the game as such. but a family friendly looking game based largely around user made content which requires little to no skill to produce, sounds awfully like a formula for a sea of pre-teen directed mediocre to god awful titles with a few rare gems between the piles of manure.

someone please correct me if i'm wrong.

oh, and. i dont need splitscreen, i have lan.

I Like a lot of the games that are console exclusive, but to be honest I'm not a huge fan of games that are exclusive to ONE console. particularly the ps3, they tend to be nothing but tech demo's (I haven't played god of war though, may try that eventually)
I like Uncharted as much as the next guy but I found it very linear and to be honest with you, kind of one note and boring. You play the entire game going down a Nathan Drake shaped path. that's not really exploration and adventure is it? that's an Indiana Jones roller-coaster in my opinion.

I don't know, I just think pc developers, particularly the indie scene have more of an inclination to take risks than the AAA console developers. just sayin!

Also Heavy Rain was a piece of shit, the story was abseloutley retarded and you couldn't fail until the last level... go figure.

while on PC sometimes the devs screw over people with good PC's by making their games not work on 2-3 year old video cards because a new shader model they don't have is a min requirement.
when was the last time this happened? was it crytek?
Lego SW actually... which is what really annoyed me, no way they couldn't have made the game run on older shader models.

ImprovizoR said:
And without those developers that are "screwing people over" we'd still be playing Doom or Pac-Man on arcade machines. It's call progress and PC gamers look forward to it. There is nothing a PC enthusiast loves more than buying a new graphics card and seeing for the first time how it will perform.
Yes, progress:

1 step forward, 2 back.

Yeah, buying a new card so you can run everything at max settings is fine, the problem is that they force you to buy a new card by doing something that means you can't play the game at all even if on paper your card should be enough to run it fine on medium, just so they could not do more work... as i said above, the game i had to get a new card for was LEGO SW, because it needed shader 2.0... no way that game had the visuals to require that (better looking games worked fine).

RhombusHatesYou said:
Yeah but you pay that back with every new game you buy (which is why console manufacturers REALLY hate the used game market).
That's only a problem is you buy new, or a CoD game which never goes down in price... my personal rule is to never buy new (unless amazon or the local shop has a good deal).

My view is if there was a definitively better platform everyone would use that as it stand it just comes down to personal preference, although I here PC didn't get to play RDR the best game of last year :p
My opinion is that popular music proves that something being objectively, critically and definitively better doesn't mean it will be dominant in sales.

But of course consoles do actually have some actual good points in their favour, unlike the latest manufactured pop crap...

Do things like this still matter? Is shit like this still important? Fuck this, play whatever you want. I don't give a crap and neither should you.
Well i want to play a FPS that isn't nothing but shiny cutscenes and one long corridor maps... it's getting harder and harder. Not that i don't like those FPS's to an extent, it's just that i can't understand why anyone else wouldn't like some variation in their FPS experience...

........ Sigh......

OK lets get into the pointless debate (yes I say its pointless and yet I speak)

PC what does this mean ? to me this means FREEDOM!

We make em Look amazing, faster, options Options OPTIONS.

Rpg/Fps/Rts the three mains are all better on the PC. Now its not that consoles don't have there own respective titles, they do, its just PC has more (often better)and there made with more freedom.

The indies the creative gaming its on PC too. The communities and the communication Team speak/Vent/mumble/Skpye. forms blogs (OK OK this is the internet not PC games but its the package that enhances the experiences.

You buy a console a "Plug in and play" and that is what you get. You get a PC and you get more then just the hardware, more then just the game, more then the internet. You get a hole world, and all of this is just finger pushes away.

A console you just get a game and a bit of a community.

PC vs Console games (to be more on topic) is like back yard YouTube movies vs Hollywood. Yer there are some good YouTube mini Movies but they don't hold up to blade-runner.

Console game are "simpler" the thing that annoys me at least is when "PC Titles" are "dumped down" to fit the "simpler" system of the Xbox ore the PS3. Console gaming has hit the PC gaming community hard. Tis not easy seeing are beloved titles spat on and disrespected for business, and why the gaming medium is indeed just that a business it makes it no less painful to see it happen.

PC Gamers are now slowly getting there titles back and new and awesome games are way, but we will always have a scar left form the console "fad"

Let us hope they save Dragon Age before they take, and destroy what can be salvaged !!!

You really have to have experienced it, media molecule do a great job of sifting out the crap and only showing you the good, they pick about 20-30 new ones every week to put on show, but you can look through the crap yourselfs, creating does require skill its all about knowledge of physics, winches, moving parts, sensors, the best creators are incredibly creative and one guy made a working tank with all the moving parts, maybe you should youtube a creation tutorial really its the easy to learn hard to master kind of thing.
If you really take time to polish it a good level it can take about a month, for example in my horror level i wanted to make a light flicker on and off so I made a winch with a tag sensor on it that controlled the light, it requires a lot of thinking

My point was that people should play games on the system(s) that they WANT to play games on. If a Gameboy Color still tickles your fancy, then play it. I play on both a PC and a X-Box 360, just because the games that I personally am into, are on those two systems. There, end of debate.

Anyone who tries to convince you that one system is better than another, should just get curb-stomped.

And? On a PC any Source engine game is all those and more.
And you can access any of those things to play with your friends at any time you want without having to download anything?
